Are we as human beings.......?

really that stupid to have such strong feelings for someone who just might not feel the same way about you? Or do we have some type of 'sixth sense' where maybe we do know they really like us? =[[

Interesting question...except that stupidity is not a factor. Intelligence speaks to how we react to situations, rather than how we feel about them. We can't choose to 'feel' a certain way. So the question is...what causes those certain feelings, including an innate dislike of someone even though we don't really know them? I doubt it's a sixth sense, which, by implication, should always be accurate...and those initial feelings...love, hate, trust, distrust...are often wrong. I think it has to do with triggers that are inbuilt in us from childhood or perhaps birth...hidden traits and factors we may not be aware of. Intelligence comes in when we try to assess a situation based on facts...which doesn't always work since we are creatures so easily affected by our bias. But I think your question is interesting because I doubt that even a team of psychologists would agree on the answer to the question...what causes us to have a "crush" on someone?

We are ruled by our biology and our chemistry. Biologically, we are programmed to mate. The longing for a mate is always there. But our internal chemistry is different. Some of us can get over that longing and turn to another without too much emotional (chemical) upset occurring in our brain (which is where our feelings come from, not the heart). Others can not. They feel the loss much more deeply. We are all one or the other on the basic bio mechanical scale of our brain patterns. I am afraid it is that simple.

For me love or strong feelings must be mutual. I f I am dating someone who does not like me and show it, I would dump her
