I'm ready for some negative answers - it'll be interesting to see if anyone has a positive response . .
Why are we pushing so hard to throw away every ideal and practice that people have used for centuries?
Examples = manners, respect, courtesy, chivalry, honor
There are many more non-PC examples like conquered nations, class systems, clothing (dress for women etc) that are in this question.
(dont get me wrong i wear jeans to work and live on a computer)
I'm more talking about the BASIC way things worked for thousands of years . . . why are people so keen on reforming the entire world?
In about 200 years, we have almost destroyed everything good about our world (the respect honor etc) for "forward progress" and for some weird reason lol . . . . things are going to heck . .
Any ideas?

LOL I'm not a real feminist. Also, I'm not talking about early AMERICA I'm talking about europe and beyond . . . hundreds of years.
I just like seeing what people have to say :)
It's funny how if you question "progress" people start to trash you pretty quick.
(what would you do without your ipods and tv? i dont know . . go outside? read a book?)

Ah, the old nadir of the conservative argument...things were better in the past, things are fine now, so why change? That is a foolish argument...things were never better, only different. That's nostalgia talking. Cultures change and people change. We can either work to ensure that that change is for the better or we can be caught off guard by it and be swept away.

I believe change is good because I believe we can be a better, more enlightened human race if we continue to work at it.

As a woman, you should stop asking these questions, keep quiet, and obey the men. That's how tradition would have it, right?

Why the thumbs down? Feminism is surely part of the "forward progress" you're talking about.
