I just moved to california with my dad and went to my new school for the first time today. The problem is that a group of about six people are harrasing me because of my race the call me chink jap chong or they ask why I bombed perl harbor. I ran out of class and just started crying in the hall way. I never want to go back. What should I do? Why would they pick on my just because i look different? I'm sure they would be mad if I made fun of their nationality, race or otherwise, why should they inflict me with such sorrows if they wouldn't want it brought apon them? And what is normal anyway? why do people ridicule those whom are not the same as they when they are different form others as well? The office staff won't do anything because they don't know who the people are and they think that "Oh it's ok, since you're new it was a joke!" hahahahah! what a wonderful joke you make me cry lot of laughs! And i thought high school students were like adults.

I'm sorry you had such a bad day. You are the new kid ~ it is as simple as that. They will do this just to see what your reaction will be. And your race really has nothing to do with it. Your best bet is to
1. Ignore them ~ and try not to look hurt even when you are.
2. Joke back with them.
Soon enough you will no longer be "the new kid" and they will move on to vicitimize someone else. I know you may not think so right now but soon you will be making new friends and some of them may even be in the circle of your current tormentors. Don't take them personally, I'm sure they mean no true harm. I hope you have a better day tomarrow.

Let's start with the "Pearl Harbor" remark.
Assuming they were white, ask them why they had a 30 year war and killed off most of the American Natives that lived here BEFORE the White Europeans moved to America, decided they wanted the WEST COAST, and the only way to get the West Coast was to march across "Indian Land" and kill off most American Natives to build routes to the West Coast, instead of working in harmony with their American Native neighbors?
As for "Pearl Harbor," ask them why they went to Japan and taught the Japanese government how to build a military (it did not have one) that eventually grew strong enough to attack Hawaii. And ask them WHY we pushed Japan into a corner, in world trade, where they felt the only way to "push back" was to attack Pearl Harbor?
Now, about the harrasment. Sorry people, this is creating a hostile environment. There is a LOT of federal laws that stop that. Go right to the school administration first. If they do not stop it, go to the school board. Then start making phone calls to the state and federal people. They WILL make the changes!! to stop this.
Next, you learned something very valuable. EVEN ADULTS act like children. So no matter where you go, you will always have jerks around you. The good news is that they do not last too long, at school or work, and get kicked out to go somewhere else!!
Stand your ground. Do not confront these bullies. Tell the school, with your dad helping, in writing, if the school does not stop this, the federal government will!!
PS My wife is cuban, I am british. Our son has the darker skin hispanic look. When he was a baby, and I was pushing him along in his stroller, a man asked me if he was my "housekeeper's baby." I told him "yes, we are very close."
The world is full of good people, and stupid people. You just have to learn as you get older how to get thick skin against these kind of assaults. It takes time, but you do learn it.

PS If you are under a lot of stress, doing daily stretching exercises will help you face the day with confidence. You can do them in your kitchen. Respond if you need further help.

Wow I'm so sorry that happened to you. Were they white? Cuz white kids can be so cruel sometimes. Some at my old school picked on Arab kids just because they'd never seen one before.
Just know that those kids are ignorant, and not everyone will be like that. And sometimes you have to fight fire with fire, and if they ask why you bombed pearl harbor, say something like, "because I thought your mom lived there." Match their ridiculousness with an absurd response so they realize that what they said was stupid and that they can't mess with your head.
If they see that it affected you they will likely do it again. The good news is that you're in California, and there are plenty of asians to jump to your defense :-) Hell I would too and i'm not even asian ^_^ I wish I could walk with you at school tomorrow!

That is NOT a funny joke!! I can't believe that they could say such a thing! You are NOT a... well, you are much better than that. They are just insecure or have low-self esteem and feel they should take it out on someone else! They think it makes them better than you by saying stuff like that, but it makes them big, fat, insecure, baby, losers! Don't insult them back, you are better than that, the best thing to do is go to a teacher and tell them your class mated are being racial and are harrasing you. Good luck, and remember, YOU ARE SO MUCH MORE MATURE THAN THAT, DON'T LET THEM GET TO YOU.

I'm sorry that had to happen to you, I work at a high school and I have seen how cruel the kids at that age can be, but just keep in mind that there are people who do understand and will be your friends, the ones who treated you like that are probably the most ignorant ones in the whole group, don't let them do that to you, most people that do that want one thing, to make you feel bad so if you ignore them that would be the best thing to do, plus why waste energy in people like that, focus on the ones that do offer their friendship sincerely, click on my avatar if you would like to write back and talk more... take care!

It's ok! Just ingore them!!! I just moved to Colorado from Texas and at first everybody except one girl made fun of my accent and called my the new kid!!! Olny one girl did't make fun of because she is from south florida and wants a southren accent too so don't worry because they will quit if they think you don't care because you are what you are!!
