I heard that in the middle ages paupers rode badgers for sport because they could not afford horses. Badgers have obviously evolved to be much smaller than in the past. Could this be because the decades of carrying paupers has taken its toll and shrunk their legs into the small stubs they are now.
I also need to know how small one would have to be in order to ride a modern day badger and/or how large a badger would have to be to take the average man.

This is something that really has a hold on me. A ground hog see its shadow, that means more cold weather. In this day of doppler radar, pin-point weather forcasts, etc. can we really believe that one ground hog decides whether or not its going to be a long winter?

I went to a new public aquarium today and was surprised to see a "touching pool" or artificial tidal pool with rays swimming around (as much as 18 to 20 inches across in width) for children to pet. I even pet the spine of one myself. It says it was a Southern sting ray. Because it was crowded, I didn't know who to ask to find out why that ray was safe. What rays are safe to touch, and which ones aren't?
