I heard that in the middle ages paupers rode badgers for sport because they could not afford horses. Badgers have obviously evolved to be much smaller than in the past. Could this be because the decades of carrying paupers has taken its toll and shrunk their legs into the small stubs they are now.
I also need to know how small one would have to be in order to ride a modern day badger and/or how large a badger would have to be to take the average man.

Although badgers are the second largest indigenous carnivores in the United Kingdom, they are not large enough to ride and they never have been (although cool thought). They are known to grow to a metre in length, but never more than 50 cm tall (19.6 inches, so just over foot). I would say someone the size of a mouse could ride it comfortably.

The middle ages is filled with fanciful stories. Badgers were never big enough for humans to ride. Theye have stayed the same size thoughout the age of man.
