Why do pidgeons fly around in circles then land?

They seem to sit happily and then as a flock fly up circle once or twice then land>

It's to safely reduce airspeed before landing.

because they cant fly straight up they work theyre way up by flying in circles, and the same aplies for when they land

they could have a blind spot and are checking the ground before they land.
