I was at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in late July and during a severe lightning storm nobody was told to go inside. The lightning was air to ground and as intense as any I've seen in Florida. Yet we were made to feel perfectly safe waiting outside in the pouring rain under a canopy. Is lightning actually nonlethal in northern states but absolutely deadly in Florida?

You always see tornadoes hitting the country so I was just wondering why dont tornadoes hit like Detroit, Chicago, Indy, etc.... all your major cities in states where tornadoes hit. Is it because of the tall buildings messing with the air or what?

In the years of 1922, 1912, 1902, 1892 they didn't keep really good records but I am doing a science project about them!

I am trying to figure out about the Austin Texas, Electra Texas, Wyoming, and anywhere else they had a tornado in 1922
And in 1912 I know there was two tornados in Creighton Missouri and Yukon Oklahoma but I am looking for more and Creighton and Yukon's place of fujita scale

And for the other years 1902 and 1892 I am trying to figure out what tornadoes they had that year and stuff about them.

Do you know anything about the area where you live and if they had a tornado in this year? Or do you know any info about the tornados above? Thanks!

It seems like always CALIFORNIA, CALIFORNIA. Is it science or geography, is it possible for a huge fire of this intensity to occur in any other state in the U.S.?

I need to do a statistical study with relation to meteorology. I need some sort of topic to research using statistical data. Other ideas used in the past were:

-El Nino / La Nina Impact on Flying Conditions

-Compare the design of the LLWAS system to the scales of downbursts and tornados to determine if it would be possible to detect a tornado with such a system.

Maybe the smoke is getting into the upper atmosphere and reaching Northern Ohio. Volcanoes can do this.

Do you think i am doing the right thing to prepare for college?

I am in 10th grade taking Honors Biology and Environmental Science.

Last year i took Earth And Space I last year.

In 11th grade i plan to take Earth And Space II and Honors Chem. And also i was thinking about taking Algebra II over the summer, so i can take Calculus in 12th grade. Oh and i'm going to take Honors Physics and maybe another science course or prob stats in 12th grade too.

Does anyone have anything that i should take in order to be more ready for college?

It seems strange to me that fire of that intensity burning
for days, and destroying homes by the thousands, in those
areas of California, could'nt just start on it's own with drought
and dry vegitation as the origin. I think a chemical ignited
is possible cause of starting that kind of burning. What do
you think? Arson! or not!
