Do you think i am doing the right thing to prepare for college?

I am in 10th grade taking Honors Biology and Environmental Science.

Last year i took Earth And Space I last year.

In 11th grade i plan to take Earth And Space II and Honors Chem. And also i was thinking about taking Algebra II over the summer, so i can take Calculus in 12th grade. Oh and i'm going to take Honors Physics and maybe another science course or prob stats in 12th grade too.

Does anyone have anything that i should take in order to be more ready for college?

I am in Biology in 10th grade because...

1. Its one of the sciences you can take in 10th grade. the other one being Chemistry.
2. I'd be in Chemistry if i didn't take Earth And Space I in 9th grade. I took it because i wanted to and i didn't want to skip it because it looked like a good class.
3. You need (Honors) Chem I and II before you can take AP in my school.

What you're doing now is PERFECT. Im a senior and colleges mostly want what u do for extra curricular activities and what classes u took and if u aced it. Luckily, im majoring Illustration and Photography. I dont have good grades. PLZ PLZ PLZ get good grades. Idk if it requires in what state ur living, in NJ, here's what u need to graduate from high school:

4 years of English
3 years of Math
3 years of Science
2 years of Foriegn language
4 years of Gym/Health
1 year of Arts
60 hours of community service
and u need to pass the high school eqivilant exam (a state test).

You need to pass all of this to graduate. idk if it's any diffrent from where ur living, but this is NJ's rule.

(oh and when ur taking Honors classes in ur senior year in school, ur also earning college credits. = )

Good luck girl!!!

You didn't really say which branch of meteorology you are most interested in.

There are the teaching/research side of the field, the operational side, and then the media/journalism side as well.

There are differences to each and some colleges have programs to better prepare you for which area you are most interested in.

If you don't know or aren't sure, one of the ways is to visit both a TV station and see what they do to prepare a broadcast and a National Weather Service Office if one is close. I would recommend talking to the Science and Operations Officer at that office. He/She can be very helpful in showing what courses are required to be hired by the government and are knowledgeable of the research side as well.

I know several high school age people join local American Meteorological Society chapters which normally have monthly meetings to rub elbows with meteorologists. There are not active chapters in too many places but it is worth looking into if you have a high interest.

It would be best if you were taking A.P. Physics and A.P. Calculus your senior year. It would seem to me that you should be taking chemistry right now, and then you could take A.P. Physics your senior year.

I am a junior in high school right now and I am also planning to be a meteorologist. I would recommend that you teach yourself meteorology in your spare time. This is what I do, and I have gained a significant knowledge of the subject. Try and get to the point where you can fully understand one of these before you graduate from high school: http://www.crh.noaa.gov/product.php?site=NWS&issuedby=LOT&product=AFD&format=CI&version=1&glossary=1

Take physics for sure. Don't overload in high school. You will take the same courses in college. Unless you want to repeat some stuff. I am a meteorology student. Take calculus also in high school, I wish I would have but i didn't.
