I was at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in late July and during a severe lightning storm nobody was told to go inside. The lightning was air to ground and as intense as any I've seen in Florida. Yet we were made to feel perfectly safe waiting outside in the pouring rain under a canopy. Is lightning actually nonlethal in northern states but absolutely deadly in Florida?

If your talking about Busch Gardens in Tampa, then yes, there is a LOT more lightning there then any wear else in Florida, why? Beats me, all I know is that my neighbors house was hit by a giant bolt of lightning while I was swimming in the pool, freaking loud! Though lightning is lightning its as dangerous as its ever been!

Lighting can be lethal anywhere. Florida has more lightning storms than any other state, however.

What a dumb question-lightning is lightning.
If you felt unsafe I'm sure you weren't tied down-why didn't you go inside or something?
