What would happen if you had your thyroid taken out and was put on synthroid by your doctor and then you stopped taking it on your own? I know someone who has done that and hasn't taken his meds for a week and I think without it and without his thyroid he could die. Help!

My friend does not know which of these three majors to choose....which, in your opinion, is better for him. He wants to be a pharmacist. Also, what exactly is each major all about?

Also, my friend needs to get an account....I'm like his secretary today. LOL.

If i think that the KAPLAN review MCAT book was easy will I do good on the MCAT test. They say that the MCAT test was made not for those people who know everything in biology, chem, orgo, and physics but was made to analyse a student's skills in using them analytically. What do you say?

Can anybody give me a good reason against stem cell research?
I don't really understand the arguement against it. I've heard that it's murder, but really they are day old cell masses that are going to be thrown away, and can lead to cures for several diseases, including Parkinsons and Cystic Fibrosis.

Medicine (or Biomedicine) is a branch of health science and the sector of public life concerned with maintaining or restoring human health through the study, diagnosis, treatment and possible prevention of disease and injury. It is both an area of knowledge – a science of body systems, their diseases and treatment, studied by medical researchers (Biomedicians) – and the applied practice of that knowledge, which principally constitutes a physician's work in clinical medicine.

If a patient is prescribed odansetron 8mg orally, and tablets are not available, can we use the intravenous liquid orally? If the patient receives an oral dose in the morning, and an IV dose later on in the evening, can there be a doubling-up effect as the delayed absorbtion of the morning oral dose catches up with the rapidly absorbed IV dose?

I'm coaching "anatomy" for a science olympiad team and was wondering if anyone had any knowledge regarding this potential question for our competition: Can a person with epilepsy be a medical doctor and if so, what accommodations might he need???? I would assume the answer is yes, if the seizures are controlled by medication; although working as a surgeon, I imagine, would not be possible. Wasn't clear on what/if any accommodations might be required. If you have insight to this question, I'd appreciate your input. Thanks.
