Make sure you cancel the appointment first of all because some offices charge a fee for no-shows if you do not cancel...the usual rule of thumb is 24 hours prior to appointment though some are 48.
Be honest, tell them you have found another physician or be real honest and let them know the other doc is better.
be cool...

Drs are so overbooked it won't hurt them any. Just call to the cancel the appointment. Have the new dr. request your records by signing a medical information release form. It's easier and quicker for the new dr's office to obtain the info.

Call the office and cancel the appointment. If they ask if you'd like to reschedule, tell them not at this time. If they ask why, tell them you can't make it.
You don't owe them an explanation, and most often they won't care anyway.

Just call the first doctor well before your appointment and say I NEED TO CANCEL MY APPOINTMENT, BUT I DON'T NEED TO RESCHEDULE. Make sure you do it at least a few days before hand. No reason is needed.

Just call and tell them that you found another doctor and would they please forward your medical records. Why do people worry about being rude? It is not rude to simply want the best medical care you can find.

you have to get a spine, unless that's why you're going to the doctor. its non of their business why you are canceling and or need your records. PERIOD. since we do we need to explain ourselves to anyone who we or our insurance is paying for services. a simple "hi i'm calling to cancel my appt. with dr.so and so. my name is this and that. my apt. was on monday. i will also need my released to a dr. so and so. thanks." and if the receptionist gets nosey and asks why, simply say, because i want to. try being honest. that's what seperats the boys from the men! ;)

Just call the receptionist and say that you need your medical records and that you will be coming back. If she/he asks why just say its none of your bussiness.
