Is it just a pediatric cardiologist? Because they deal with children of all ages. Is there a special field just for people who want to work with infant heart problems?

A pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon would fix many of the defects that can't be fixed less invasively by a pediatric cardiologist with catheter-based techniques. Both would work with infant heart problems, but one is a surgeon and one is a cardiologist.

a cardiologist couldn't fix the problem- you need a pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon to fix the defect surgically. a pediatric cardiologist would be able to diagnose it, but again, he could not do the surgery to repair it.

umm....ob-gyn doctors can help diagnose these problems. but eventually it falls into the hands of cardiologists to specifically diagnose and than it falls into the hands of pediatric Cardiothoracic surgeons to correct the ailment(if requiring surgical repair).
