Many years ago I heard a rumour that the Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin was not actually the first man in space the first man to return from space. From what I remember the first cosmonaut was unable to return to earth and his ship bounced off the atmosphere. Can anyone else remember this or confirm it

The slower time gets for the person travelling. Because so many people have told me this is ture. i.e. If someone travelled at the speed of light for 20 years and came back to earth they wouldn't have aged a bit.

I saw many good, seemingly well-informed answers to samantha's question. That is not one of the things I know much about. But I thought the shuttles covered a wide range of altitudes in the many missions. So none of the shuttle missions have been through the Van Allen belts? I thought they had. And the shuttle has better shielding than the Apollo craft, doesn't it?

Before anybody gets knee-jerk, I am not challenging the moon missions. I know we went and I get pi$$ed off at the people who deny that achievement for all those stupid reasons.

when computers are developing only in recently and are expecting much more growth for the next 30 to 50 years. So even now the scientists are not satisfied with the speed of development even when normal people feel we are developing. So how can the US people such a long back visited moon without any fault. Our Sunita Williams and Kalpana Chawla at this present world just went to space station and returning back to earth safely is not guaranteed till they land on earth safely. How the Neal Armstrongs group landed on moon without any error such a long back.

I read they're growing human embryos under zero gravity and that some are a few years old. It further states that they look alien and all the organs settle differently in the biology due to the lack of gravity. Could the human body really survive that?
