You want facts? Really?

The only fact of relevance is that you and everybody else who believes in the "Mayan calender" are wasting your time on childish nonsense because absolutely nothing of importance is going to happen in the sky in 2012.

Now tell me:

Are you happy, satisfied, relieved about getting this piece of information?

Are you going to sign up for science class and learn about reality?

Are you?

;-)

Supposedly the Sun will align with the center of the Milky Way galaxy, that is to say it will be at the middle of the galaxy from an "up/down" point of view.

Also, that is a winter solstice *but* some people also think that it marks the end of a period of precession around the axis the Earth makes every 26,000 years. The problem with that assessment is this--precession is circular, so we are *always* at the "end" of a complete period of precession.

There are only 2 solid facts about all this.
1) Nothing extraordinary will happen on that day.
2) The Mayan calendar does not end; rather, it begins another long-count cycle.

I can't give you facts.
I've heard an alignment of the planets is going to happen, but that is hearsay. Who knows... tough question to answer.
The mayans were old and definately out of date with their own facts.

Around mid-December 2012, Mercury, Venus and Saturn will be rather closely aligned, but it will be of no consequence. Planetary alignments are not that unusual, and have no real effect on Earth or anywhere else.

Fact: The Mayans' favorite pastime was ripping the still-beating hearts out of their own children and drilling big holes in their skulls.

Are these really the people you want to get your wisdom from?
