Hi- just wondering what science's answer is to this question. It is hard for me to imagine that simple random mutations are responsible for the formation of animal's organs.

Take for example the first animal that could see. I would think it would be highly improbable for random mutations to create the necessary faculties for sight. This animal obviously did not just suddenly have eyes, it would have been a more gradual change. How would random mutations alone slowly create the organs for sight? It would seem about as probable (or even less probable) than the sudden formation of single celled organisms from amino acids.

I'm not a creationist I'm just wondering about this issue. I know there are billions of years and many generations to create these things but statistically speaking it doesn't seem like it adds up.

if an angry tiger attacks a calm elephant who would win? i know most will think elephant should win but the elephant isn't in any mood of fighting and he is just very laid back and easygoing whereas the tiger is full of rage and wants to go right on the elephant.

I was doing the January 2007 Paper (Unit 1) when I realised that I got a question wrong:

State the strongest intermolecular bond in each of the following:
HF
HCl
HBr
HI

I said HF is hydrogen bonding
and the rest are dipole-dipole forces.

The mark scheme said that HF was correct but HCl, HBr and HI were Van der Waals forces or dispersion forces or induced dipole forces. It clearly said "reject dipole-dipole forces"

I do not understand why?
1. Firstly note it said state the strongest intermolecular force.
2. Also dipole-dipole forces are a type of van der Waals, so how could they accept Van der Waals but not dipole-dipole forces.

Any help would be widely appreciated.

for decades there has been big debate as to who will win. some say tiger and some say bear, but no general agreement.

Tigers and bears live side by side in India, parts of China and Siberia and they do get into territorial disputes. The results are mixed -- sometimes bear kills tiger or at time bear is found killed.

But who really is more likely to win?
