How Percentages Work

if you try to x by .03 you will find it more difficult to do in your head. divide any number by 100 - that gives you 1%.

You simply then have to times it by whatever percentage you are looking for. so, for example, 3% of 3500 - 1% is 35. 3x 35 is 105 - your answer without the need for a calculator, or event a pen and paper.

Yeah. To convert 3% to a decimal, move the decimal 2 places to the left. (.03) You then multiply like you did 3500 x .03

3500
x .03
--------
105 <--- 3% of 3500

Good luck!
