I work in a gift type shop and we have some fancy tea light holders that are glass - the red ones are nearly £30 each but the other colours, blue, green and sand are only £10. Why is red glass so much more expensive to make??

I understand that there are no fossil records covering certain periods so there is no physical proof of an evolutionary transition occuring. But over what period(s) is this? Is this missing period over thousand or millions of years. How significant is it. Do we go from looking like an ape to then suddenly appearing as a homosapien?

For cosmetic reasons, we've left the burned out bulb in the socket which raised the before mentioned question. We've loosened the bulb so there's no contact but we were just wondering about the possibility of "juice" still being drawn into the point of contact.

I'm looking at "Spaceweather.com" (cool site, you should check it out). They're showing the orbit of comet 8P/Tuttle, and defining the distance on January 2, 2008 as being 0.254 AU. The problem for me is that I don't know what that means in terms of distance.

Wickapedia isn't helpful to me, and I'm not having much luck finding a site that will define astrological terminology, things like Right Assention. Some of the terms I can understand, like Declination (correct me if I'm wrong) which means the angle above the horizon. I'm sure there are more calculations to take into account, but I'm interested in learning.

I have a Dobsonian 4 1/2 inch reflector and a Meade 3 1/2 refractor and some cheap (not the expensive ones) eye pieces. I enjoy looking at things like Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, Venus, and (rare) Mercury (of which I've seen through my refractor once).

When time permits, I may go back to schooll to learn more on astronomy, but for now you can help.

Thanks.

Just received a Christmas gift from a friend in Washington state. Box intact, paper wrap intact. Inside, wrapped in plastic then in wrapping paper were some kitchen towels that were so sopping they got water on the sofa and I had to wring them out and put them in the dryer! Other packages in the same box were totally dry. I called my friend - it was not a joke and she is as mystified as we are. My husband thinks someting to do with condensation - my daughter thinks she packed ice in inadvertently but I think it might be physics of some other kind. Does anyone have any idea?

i've read that gearing down and using engine braking saves fuel, compared with coasting up to traffic lights. But how can this be if the engine is in neutral it's not under load so it can't use much fuel. which one is right.

a circular body initially at rest is moving on an inclined body inclined at an angle '0' (teta).
it follows a motion such that dv=3dt (differentiation) at time 3s.
given coefficient of friction is U. then find the radius and the angular velocity for the body.also find the number of rotations it takes from 3s to 4s.

Feel shame if u cant solve this b'coz this question is created by a 9th grade student for 11 and 12 class students

if u give up saying are shameless, then i will say the answer
