If mature will say, that the tree is big enough, that you can use the wood, it needs 70 years minimum ( Encyclopedia of trees ). Here an example of its slow growth:
"Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, the large island off the southern tip of India, is the main source for Ceylon Ebony, Diospyros ebenum. It was once common and gregarious in the dryer regions, producing a jet-black heartwood with no streaks. Unprofitable for silviculture because of slow growth. A 60 cm diameter tree is about 200 years old." http://209.85.135.104/search?q=cache:9HgKkKXFoTIJ:aic.stanford.edu/sg/wag/1992/WAG_92_bowman.pdf+%22diospyros+ebenum%22%2Bmature&hl=de&ct=clnk&cd=10&gl=de
