I am 7 weeks pregnant now and tomorrow will be my first appt with the OB Nurse. I called the receptionist today to ask about what they take the urine and blood tests for. Receptionist checked with one nurse and told me that the urine is done for any bladder infections, and the blood tests are done for anemia, sugars, see how much iron we have,basically tells them what tests they will have to administer of mine in this pregnancy.
I asked if they determine pregnancy, then receptionist said that they already know I am pregnant and don't take the urine and blood to determine that. I did ask the receptionist to make sure I can take a urine test that proves to them I am pregnant, she said yes she can give me a strip tester and I can pee on it. Is that all that you ladies remember from that first nurse checkup?

My Ex has been out of the pic for about 2 years and all of a sudden pops up and demands to see our kid. He hasnt paid child support, he took off to another state and hasnt seen the kid since she was about 4 months old. Do I have to let him see her? Because he has threatened to take her to Florida for good. Shes been living with me and Ive been supporting her since she was born. HELP!

I'm due around August 29th and I was thinking of having friends and family over for a little get-together so everyone could meet the baby. Since this is my first baby, I'm not sure how soon I will be ready to entertain after she's born. How much time should I give myself before I have everyone over? I don't really want to 'play it by ear' because I'm a huge 'planner.' Any ideas on what a good time frame would be?

I have lost like a million baby socks in the wash!

Do you think there is a sock heaven somewhere? Do you think they all hang out with the missing remote controls and keychains? Or do you think aliens sneak into your house to steal our babies' socks because it's the only way they can sustain their lives?

I don't mean kicks and stuff, I just mean little flutters. I don't know what else it could be because I know I am not imagining these movements. I just wanted to ask if anyone else has ever felt anything like this at only 10 weeks. Is it too early? I don't remember this with my other two pregnancies, but I know every pregnancy is different.

Just a little background info: My dog is an approx. 5 year old rescue who had been abused. We've owned her for 3.5 years. She is a sweetheart, but has shown aggression towards other dogs, but never humans.

I'd like to know a 'tried and true' way to introduce my newborn to my dog. What worked for you?

P.S. Please do not tell me to get rid of my dog...that is not an option unless she shows aggression towards the baby.

I live in Florida and my husband and I were thinking of donating my eggs. We already have 3 beautiful healthy children, and I thought that there are plenty of couples out there that need extra help to conceive. I have looked up sites, but they're not in my area. Does anyone have any suggestions on where else to look into this information.

Tell me your story....... were you an only child? And if so how was your childhood/adulthood? Were you spoiled? And if you were NOT an only child how was it for you?
Would either of you have it any other way?
(We're trying to decide if it's ok to have just one child or if 2 is better)

Should Abortion be soley up to the woman or should the father have a say. My beef with this is When woman decides to have the baby and Dad is irresponsible for running off, BUT to say a father in this situation has no choice in the abortion is also calling him irresponsible. So if he runs off all of a sudden it's his baby too, but if she decides to abort then it was not his choice, since it's not his choice is it still his baby?

i guess i've heard of women who aren't breastfeeding to lactate, but she said that she never stops.
she says that her body is "always ready for babies".

it's not that i doubt what she says, i just find it interesting....
anyone ever hear of this or experienced this??
is it common or rare??

My husband told me that it's up to me if i got back to work right after having the baby. We sat down and figured that it's going to cost us $800 a month for someone to care for our infant and i only bring home a little more than that a month. So its makes sense for me to just stay home with our daughter. I feel strange thinking someone eles is going to raise my babygirl and see all the things she's gona do before me! But it's going to be tight for awhile! Should i go back to work or stay home?

I have been off birth control for a little while now- and my period has usually been between 28- and 30 days apart from each other....well I was suppose to start on Wednesday so that makes me 6 days late- I really don't think i'm pregnant- because- to make a long story short, we have a daughter who is 18 months old, and is a handful- and I am pretty sure my husband and I only did it once this month (yes- sad I know)......We only did it 7 days after my cycle last month- and i can't for the life of me remember if we used a condom or *other method*.....SO it would be a miracle if I was pregnant.....Is there any tricks to make you start???? I have been under stress lately- so I'm sure that is probably what it is.....

i just got a new job working for a very hard (though very generous with pay raises) boss yesterday and then found out i was pregnant today. Its a small office with just the doctor and 3 employees including myself so i know in the long run, he will not be able to have that position empty when it comes time for maternity leave and i am afraid once its known i am pregnant they will see me as "temporary" and invest less in me than they would if I wasn;t. He even told me in the interview ( before i found out) that he has lost a lot of girls to pregnancy. I feel really bad about the timing but one of the best things about this job is the advancedment oppertunity ( my friend started less than a year ago at $5.50 and now makes $9.50 and he hates her cuz he says she is too "bubbly") I am just afraid that i will miss out on that now because he thinks he will lose me too (and honestly after the baby is born he might since we will have no sitter and don't trust/ know very well anyone in this town.

I need a job that is going to be pro-active about me breastfeeding because I refuse to give my child any other form of nourishment for the 1st year. My current job really isn't for or against me breastfeeding but they did give me a hard time to pump...so I guess they are against it,grr...so my milk supply plumeted and I had to supplement w/ yucky formula, I refuse to do that with my next child to come. I need a job that will be supportive in bf sessions on my lunch break, maternity leave, insurance...

I am freaking out. I just miscarried after being on an IUD for 15 months. My fiance and I already have 2 children and there's no way we can afford a third child for at least a year. Both of our children were also concieved on birth control. Our oldest was concieved while I was on the patch and our youngest was concieved while I was on the Nuva Ring. I was also pregnant once before while using condoms. My doctor said I was fertile but I also thought that the IUD would NOT allow my to get pregnant. What are the chances of getting pregnant again while being on this form of birth control? Please don't say to ask my doctor because he also said that I would be very unlikely to get pregnant while being on this. He also said that I won't get pregnant again but I'm just paranoid.

I'm so nervous about goign to the doctor today!!!
