I like Classic and Timeless. Jack, Matthew, Michael, Thomas, Charlie, Henry, Elizabeth, Grace, Natalie, Victoria, Christine...etc. They have proven to stand the test of time. They are names that they would be taken seriously. Look good on a resume or job application. Good name for a DR, Lawyer or city worker. Do you think we will ever see President Dakota Smith? Time will tell.

Try this site http://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/... You can put in the names you like and they will tell you how popular, each year--changes...etc You can see if it is on the decline, increase, look by state...and I believe it gives related names/nicknames. They are based on new social security records each year.

Also, a very good book called the BABY NAME WIZARD by Laura Wattenberg. There's not a TON of names in there. They are categorized by style. And there is a neat section where you can look of the name you like, it gives neat info, then gives you brother and sister names that go well with it. It is amazing because it totally tends to be styale names you would like. I found that helpful because if my husband and I didn't agree on our 3rd baby's name---typically we could find a name in the brother sister section...that was still in our style...and go from there. It also gave suggestions, nicknames...etc. It's a good book. Check it out.

I love names that are not gender specific. The advantages are amazing for females. Adrian is my favorite. Leslie, Marion, and Beverly are gender neutral but sound somewhat feminine. And of course there is Chris, Pat, and Marty. Cheyenne is a name I personally love the sound of. A short first name sounds better when paired with a polysyllabic last name and vice versa.
