Newborn & Baby - January 2007

This is my first baby and im getting used to all the stuff u are supposed to nedd with a newborn. I was going to make my own cotbumper, but whilst researching it, i have read that they are dangerous and should not be used with a newborn? So any experienced mums wanna tell me their experiences/thoughts on this? Should I just use blankets/sleeping bags and thats it?? Its all so confusing!

She is on solid foods but is limited to fruits and most vegatables and little dairy and meats. She can eat pasta as well without trouble. She was breastfeed until 9 mos old. She can't even eat carrots or she is up all nite. I give her juices to try to help her bowel movements..but she still only has movements the size of raisins. I realize that she shouldn't be drinking a bottle in the middle of the night...but she will not go back to sleep without it.

My poor little 11 month old girl bonked her head this morning, and cried very hard. Her initial cry after hitting her head was to the point where she exhausted all of the air in her lungs until finally she gasped for air for the next cry. I am curious if someone has had a child lose consciousness from not breathing because of a hard cry, and as a parent what I am supposed to do if this happens. Thanks for your time!

I am a little confused. I'm at 32 weeks and I'm filling out a bunch of forms and answering health question every week and almost every time there is something about feeding asking "Will you breast feed, use formula, or use both?"

How do you use both? Doesn't that do a number on your baby's tummy? Do you alternate feedings with pure breast milk and formula w/ water? Or do you prepare the formula with the breast milk? How does doing BOTH work?

My nephew is 3 months old. All he does is wave his arms and legs around, laughing and sticking his tongue out. Why does he do this. Is he just getting used to his body or something (at least he's not crying!)

My friend just had her baby this morning, she was only a little over 27 weeks along. His breathing is fine, but he weighs only 2 pounds 6 oz. Does anyone have any advice I can give her? She is just so worried. She also doesn’t have anything for him, like a crib and stuff because her mother wanted her to hold off in case she lost him. (She has had miscarriages before.) I don't care what the advice is, just as long as it isn't mean. If anyone has been through this before, I would love to hear your stories too. Thanks in advance.

she is medicated for severe reflux and on Friday they switched her meds because the others were not working...well this entire weekend she has been pulling at her right ear and she has been having really bad reflux...do you think that these two could be related or does she just have a seperate ear thing going on??

my daughter has like pink bumps on her belly neck and face.she did have shots 10 days ago and has been on amoxicillin also but today was her last day on it.i did call the drs they said to wait to see if it goes away and call them back.she has no other symptoms.what could it be??

A week or so ago, I posted a question about my sister in law having a pre mature baby and not knowing the sex...Well contrary to what some people thought, The baby did not have both Genders. Its a GIRL!!! Just found out 2 days a go. Baby Faith Mariah Naomi is now 10 days old and she is doing much better and expected to come home in about a month...A miracle some would say!!

Hi, im breastfeeding my 8 month baby, and for 2 days now i have had a sore nipple, and delevoped a blister on it!
Ive still been breastfeeding with it but im so much pain, its rubbing off on baby. Ive got some nipple cream but it isnt really helping.
Ive tried warm flannels etc,
Any advice.......

My son is almost 7 months, and enjoys a wide varierty of solid foods. Can anyone tell me when he will be ready to have pureed broccoli or spinach? I know that they have to be a certain age for certain foods. I'd love to know if he's ready for those two foods yet. Thanks!

My 3 month old daughter has been a little constipated. Although she has been have a bowel movement every day, its a much smaller amount than usual and its kind of hard and sticky. I have tried (my doctor recomended) Karo syrup for the constipation and while that has helped her go it has not softened her stool at all. Is there anything I can try to help soften it?

Hi.My daughter is 9 months old.her head and hair always got wet she sleeps.I thought she might be very hot,thats why she is wet.But only her head got wet,not body.I alwys put my home temparature normal,not too hot.And i also dont put anythg heavy on her when she sleeps.Even i also tried putting anythg when she sleeps.But nothg works.Her head is alwys wet.even when she sleeps on my hand,i found wet head after some time.This is making her suffering from cold.I tried to make her dry,but when she sleeps i cant touch her,bcz she wakes up.Why it is happening?she is not suffeirng from fever.what i can do to get rid of it.Pls help
