She is on solid foods but is limited to fruits and most vegatables and little dairy and meats. She can eat pasta as well without trouble. She was breastfeed until 9 mos old. She can't even eat carrots or she is up all nite. I give her juices to try to help her bowel movements..but she still only has movements the size of raisins. I realize that she shouldn't be drinking a bottle in the middle of the night...but she will not go back to sleep without it.

The fruit juices may be hurting more than helping. Also milk can cause problems for babies when they are weaned.

Gripe Water works wonders. I used it for many things, gas being one of them. Of course this is only if burping the baby doesn't work. Some people think this isn't proper but it helps. Try watering down juices this will help with the bowel movements. Water down the bottle at night as well. The best fruits for constipation are berries and melons.

Oh also I noticed someone recommended not giving whole milk but rather 1 or 2 %. Please don't do this unless your doctor recommends this. Up until 2 years they need the fats that are only in whole milk, not in 1 or 2%, this helps their brain develope.

I am the mother of three, 14 yrs, 10 yrs, and 5 yrs and when they were little they would get gassy and i would take a few drops of onion juice (don't laugh it works) into a bottle of warm water. (about 4 oz.) Give to the child about 1-2 hrs before sleep and see what happens. I think that you will be very surprised at effectiveness of this old school remedy. Also, if the child suffers from constipation, another old fashioned remedy for that is using a little prune juice mixed in and watered down with the other juice that you are giving the child. You are watering down the juice aren't you? Peace, love, and joy to you.

If you are giving her a bottle before bed and she is falling asleep without burping that could do it. My daughter is 11 months old also and I have the same problem. I try to make sure she stays awake during that last bottle of the night or else I am also up 2-4 times a night with a belly ache. I would also maybe limit the more gasey foods towards the end of the day. Different foods affect kids differently. Check the juice too, my daughter can't seem to handle anything with a citrus juice in it (pineapple, orange) and a lot of juices I have found have them in it even if it doesn't say on the front of the juice container. they are listed in the ingredients. If nothing works definitely talk to your dr. Good luck.

It could be a few things...if the doctor won't help, you really should see another doctor because that just isn't right.
Need to pinpoint if its a certain veggie or lactose intolerance or bubbles in her bottle.
I know it seems like torture but, yes, she WILL go back to sleep without a bottle at night. Try replacing the bottle with another comfort item like a stuffed toy or a soft blanket.
I have 2 kids and my 3 yr old has trouble getting sleep w/o being on the sofa but if he's tired enough, he stays in bed and falls asleep.
Try the new doctor, or even ask a Pharmacist for advice (they know a lot of doctors and even more about health issues).
Hope it goes well for you...hang in there!

My daughter suffered from constipation to the point that she would cry when she had a bowel movement. Her doctor recommended citrucel mixed with juice, one cuppy or bottle daily. That worked wonders. As for the gas, try Little Tummies gas drops and burp, burp, burp!!

Maybe its the milk,I had problems w/ my son when he was on whole milk,I thought it was gas at first, but it was the milk constipating him, when he did go it was just how you are describing,so we switched him to 1% milk and after a few days he was fine, then we went up to 2% and he could handle that also, and we have just kept him there ever sense,he's now 5 and still gets constipated from the whole milk!

try putting some mylicon drops in her bottle or food before she goes to bed. you might have to give her a bottle with water in it she wont like it at first but she might not cry for a bottle in the night if all she gets is water. also cut down on her nap time in the day and set a really good routine and put her to bed and the same time every night. also try letting her cry herself back to sleep. in know that is sooo hard but its worth a try. sticking to a reg routine worked for me.
