My son was the same way when he was younger. He has since outgrown. I reassure you that a wet head in his/her bed is NOT making him get a cold. Colds are virus's in the air that are caught. All you can really do is avoid sleepers. buy 2 piece PJ's and leave baby's feet without socks. This is what made my son stop sweating so much. a light blanket over top. One thin undershirt and a 2 piece pj's and one light blanket. Hope it works.

I had the same problem with my baby and she's 6 months old now. I'm still not sure why but her head and body is always warm. no fever or anything and she gets the snots when the fan is on. I think she just gets hot but i also think she drools so i put a towelling nappy under her face to absorb it and she sleeps on an anti-smother mattress with a 100% cotton sheet (which is also breathable). Her head doesn't get wet anymore.

Hope this works, good luck

This is a puzzler as you say this happens even when she sleeps in your arms. I would consult your health visitor or NHS direct. Until then, what about trying a towel under head instead of a pillow, or one of those baby pillows with air holes?
Since you have tried reducing the amount she wears and the bedding, this does not seem to be an environmental problem but a systemic one. How about consulting a homeopath (pick one from the Societyof Homeopaths)?

I,ve not a clue what this is but i honestly would,nt about it.
When my eldest was born everytime i put him down to sleep he,d sweat. Like you say it,s just the head i never bothered as he was ok. He did get colds but babies get so many colds in a year.

My eldest is still the same now every night he goes to bed and sweats but just his head. Also my 1 year old does exactly the same thing i,ve just got used to it now and it does,nt harm them in any way.

If you are worried though have a word with the doctor even if it,s just for a bit of reassurance.

first, we don't get sick from being wet. sure, it can exacrebate a cold or flu, but it doesn't make us sick. bacteria and viruses make us sick.

so, that being said, you definitely DO want to get this taken care of, but i'm not sure how. you could try a different matress and sheets....
perhaps there is too much plastic going on in her crib...
i bought a nice crib matress from J.C. penney's and it's worked well for us. the crib matress pad is from wal-mart..it has a plasic type backing on it b/c of leaks, but it's soft and breathable on top. also, i use cotton sheets. i do not put down any plastic sheets for leaks and accidents...just nice, soft cotton, breathable sheets.

also, i would take her to the doctor and discuss this with her pediatrician. i have never heard of a baby just having a wet head....i'm inclined to think it's just sweat from something, but usually, if a baby is hot and sweating, then their back and neck will get sweaty, too.

i would seek advice from your pediatrician, too.

take care.

First, you dont get sick from being wet!! Illnesses are caused by viruses you come in contact with, not the weather or a chill!!
What kind of sheets does your baby sleep on?? If they are not 100% cotton, the synthetic in them is like laying on plastic....which will make you sweat and is very uncomfortable!

LOL yepp, yepp. My guy best friend who's an utter nerd pushed me into the swimming pool with all my clothes on. When I got out I was dripping wet, big time. Something about nerds huh? they always seem to do that. You guys are special. :P

i would take her to the doctor to get this checked out my step-daughter suffers from this and it is caused by a condition but i cant remember what it is called but i do know that it means she cant control her body temperature we have to always make sure that she doesn't get to hot or cold it is something that she will grow out of by the time she goes to school. it is not very serious though.

this is very comon but they do grow out of it.my daughter used to wake up and her head would be soaked.babies loose a lot of heat from there heads and when they are sleeping with there heads lying on something they sweat.it does not cause them to get sick or cause colds this is caused by a virus.

Try changing her mattress. You can get a breathable mattress which lets the air circulate around the head area. Also, make sure her room is well ventilated.
