Adolescent - December 2006

My 14 yo son has no idea what he wants for Christmas. Typical clothes and music, but I would like to do something special. Any ideas?

when do you think kids should get a cell phone? im not saying that i DONT have one, its just that i'd like your opinions on it.

PLEASE do not say whenever their ready, or once they can afford it.....................i just want a straight out answers, and a reason why. personally, i beleive 12 is the right age for boys and 14 for girls, mainly because cell-phones encourage girls to start vvhoring the world.

Okay so I wanted a new phone for my birthday. I couldn't get one because my contract wasn't up. That was 5 months ago. Today my mom's phone broke so she had to buy a new one. The phone she bought was buy one get one free. She gave the other phone to my brother. Okay, so before you say it I know that its a whiny question. Now considering that I haven't done anything bad lately nor has he done anything good AND I asked for a new phone for my birthday, is that fair.

Here's the thing, I'm 15 and sometimes like on Fridays or Saturdays I'll stay up late since it's the weekend. Well, sometimes there'll be a tv show on at 2 or 3 a.m. that I really want to watch. But, I usually can't stay awake until then! So sometimes around 12 or 12:30 I'll be laying on the couch and just fall asleep. Here's what's weird:

If I fall asleep on a night when there's a show on at like 2 am, I'll fall asleep and wake up at EXACTLY 2 am! Not 1:59 or 2:01 -- 2 am on the spot! Is that weird or what? What causes that? Some sort of inner-clock thing?

I am working fulltime at a law firm and going to school at night, I take acting classes. My ultimate goal is to become an actress. My fiance, is very supportive of whatever decision I make. He understands that the goal I have set for myself are very important to me. I don't believe in abortion, but on the flip side I want to be able to dedicate everything to any child I may have. The though of aborting the pregnancy has come to mind. But I really don't want to do this. But having this child will hinder me from accomplishing my goals. Please dont answer just for points, this is a very importnat matter to me. If you were in my position would you keep the baby or abort the pregnancy?

I mean, it isn't necessary for teens to rebel. In fact, they probably would do better if they just shut up and listened to what their parents said instead of making everything a fight. I mean, I'm 18, and all of the time I've been a teenager, I've always tried to avoid being rebellious, and try to listen to my parents as much as possible, so why don't other teens?

I handled it quite well, for I was in total shock. My daughter and I have discussed many times sex, drugs, etc. Her boyfriend and her have been dating for three years. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY OR DO!!!! Abortion is out of the question! I feel like I failed somewhere as a FATHER - yep, her father. Of course, I had "great plans" lined up for her - school, college, etc. I feel as if I have been betrayed and have lost all trust in her. Please advise. I love her dearly and I'm certain I'm not ready for my little girl to be a mother!

More info: Im not certain, but I was told once that her boyfriend hit her. Of course, she denied it, and so did he. She did admit that he pushed her once. I know she loves this boy (who graduates from high school this year and has no plans of going to college). Her mother acts as if "oh well, what's done is done." I'm sorry I don't have the same attitude as her mother (we are divorced - 10 years now - but live next door to one another). HELP!

My 13yr old son has been diagnosed with a mild form of tourettes. My question is, should we put him on medication? He does not swear but has numerous facial ticks etc and his mates are starting to notice. He is a confident, well liked child and is handling it well - so do we leave it up to him to decide?

Okay, I posted a question like last week about my friend running away from home. Well she went home for 2weeks and 4days, and ran away again...! Now she is 17 years old with a 31 year old "sugar daddy" Hes been keeping her supplied in cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, clothes, etc..he even bought her a cell phone...I'm afraid hes gonna ask for sex or sumthing in return and shes gonna say no, and hes gonna either hurt my friend, rape her, or even kill her..! He's in a gang called "TN4L" and he added her to the gang also...I love my friend with all of my heart and dont want nothing to happen to her..!! She wont tell me where she is..all i know is shes somewhere in cincinnati Ohio.I dont have a number or anything like that.I cant call her dad, or the cops, b/c then i'll lose my best friend.I want to get her myself, and get her out of that kind of lifestyle! She has another capias warrant which is state wide, and her dad cant drop it. I need to know what steps to take to get my friend back..!!!!
