Pregnancy & Parenting - 18 February 2007

My 5 1/2 mo. old doesn't like to be held. She's been like that since birth. The only time she likes (or tolerates) being held is when she's ill. She depends on her pacifier to soothe her and really doesn't care if she's held or not.

This kind of bothers me. I know it's probably just her personality and I like the fact that she seems to be "independent," but I thought most babies prefer to be held.

What do you think? Was your baby like this?

i made the mistake of putting my baby in bed with us when he was a few weeks old, now he is 2 months old and i want him to start sleeping in his bed, but he dont want to, he cries..i feel like a bad mom for letting him cry. but is it ok to let him cry himself to sleep or what should i do?

We posted a sign above the toilet that he helped write. HE gets up in the middle of the night to pee and sometimes forgets...I can understand that, SOMETIMES, cuz he's still sort of asleep but today he dropped a deuce in the afternoon and didnt flush the damn toilet. This makes his mother and I very disappointed. What else can we do to help him remember?
We thought of changing the sign every week and posting another by the light switch.
I hope some wonderful people can help with some ideas.

After I had my last baby I weighed 185 lbs. (prepregnancy weight was 156 lbs) Well I stayed at 185 and he is 16 months old. I am now due to have another baby in three weeks and I havent gained any weight the entire pregnancy. I still weigh 185. Has this ever happened to any one and if it has, was the baby alright and did it have a healthy birth weight.

Is it possible to still get a college degree and have a child?
I am 4 weeks along and i just found out i was pg, now my main concern is going to college, living on my own, working and paying bills. Do you think its possible to get a college degree and raise a child or is my futute ruined? i want to be a good mother for my baby but am scared!! i dont have barely any college done.

i attempted (badly) to swaddle my best friends neice (2 weeks old..SO tiny, ahhhh). and failed miserably...she managed 2 get out of it with just one move!!! any1 got any idiot proof ways of doing it? or just general tips?

my girlfriend is pregnant. she got back from the doctor and is confirmed. she is 20, i am 27. i have a daughter from college that lives with her mommy, and my girlfriend does not know about. i am afraid to tell my girlfriend my predicament as i think she wont understand. i was young, 19, did an immature thing, had unprotected sex with a high school junior, 16, and impregnated her. I really feel like i cant go on. I am 37 weeks, I am so huge, i feel like there is no room left in me, i have all sorts of aches and pains, and the burping!! my indigestion is making me feel like i am choking and cant breathe. Last week i was 60% effaced and -1 station, ive had diarreah the last 2 says, and contractions here and there...are these good signs that it might be over soon? Also to day i had all sorts of energy. Im feeling pelvic pressure like you would not believe. Please tell me im not the only one feeling like this cause sometimes i feel like something is seriously wrong with me and my body is going to just shut down! How do i get through this??? I have an infant with reflux who has had difficulties with breastmilk and almost all types of formula. The pediatrician has her on zantac and has recommended we begin using nutramigen. Has anyone used this type of formula and found it to be helpful? I seriously doubt she has a milk protein allergy or soy allergy, but I'm willing to try anything to make her feel better.

OK-I took 5 pregnancy tests and first 2 were faint lines on the cheap tests-then I went an bought ClearBlue Digital and I had results in less then a minute with all 3. I know-5 tests is alot but I have been trying since my miscarriage about 5 months ago-so i wanted to be really sure before I got excited. So, thanks to all those who answered all my questions while trying to concieve! Also I wanted to know if anyone knows anything I need to do to prevent miscarriage since I did have one not too long ago-it was my first miscarriage and I have 2 children already. We are trying to conceive our second child. My breasts are really sore and I was three days early. I have always been exactly 28 days on the pill or not on the pill. The bleeding is really lite red. For the last week I have been getting these really tired spells All of a sudden. I have felt dizzy at times. My husband said I have been getting mood swings too. Ok I want to get my nose pierced but my parents won't let me. What are some ways I can convince them to let me do it. Plus once I want to close it up will it leave a scar or will there be a hole in my nose or something.
