After I had my last baby I weighed 185 lbs. (prepregnancy weight was 156 lbs) Well I stayed at 185 and he is 16 months old. I am now due to have another baby in three weeks and I havent gained any weight the entire pregnancy. I still weigh 185. Has this ever happened to any one and if it has, was the baby alright and did it have a healthy birth weight.

My doctor isnt concerned but I'm worried that I will have an underweight baby. I'm scheduled to have an ultrasound Wed. to see how big the baby is. All of my measurements were on point. I was just wondering if any one else had experienced this and did they have a healthy nice sized baby.

Let me guess- you are constantly running around after your 16 month old...so chances are that you would have lost the original weight if it weren't for your pregnancy...you have probably lost and gained simultaneously, if that makes any sense at all.

Relax. If there were a problem, your doctor/midwife would have yelled at you about it by now!

I asked a similar question about 3 months ago when i was still pregnant because I had gained about 40 after my eight month and was freaking out! This was my third (the first i gained 14 pounds, the second 20) So, when i hit the 40 mark i couldn't believe it. My ankles were HUGE, and it didn't help that everyone else even told me i was huge (even strangers) I wouldn't worry about it. Don't try to lose weight now. Just get enough water, lots of water, keep an eye on the meals and treats, and just know that it will come off! My daughter is 6 weeks old tomorrow, and i have 6 more pounds to go and will be back to my prepreg weight. Oh, and my ankles came back after two or three days! Don't freak!!! Just remember everyone's body is different, and right now everything is chaos! Good luck and congrats!

Yeah, I am the same. I as 275 pounds before pregnancy. Then when I found out I was pregnant I got down to 250 and now I am 230. My weight loss was from taking hypothyroid meds. I think it could be because your body has weight already so it does not have to conpensate nearly as much. I eat healthy and 500 more calories than my usual intake (which is recommended), but just do not gain weight. As long as the baby is growing fine then you are okay. If the doctors said everything is okay then you are good. I am 16 weeks and 3 days pregnant and have not gained any weight. In fact I lost 20 pounds during pregnancy but look like I have gained a belly because the fat went where it needed to provide for the baby. Also, when you are bigger you tend to not gain as much weight. I would also look to see if you change your diet (habits of eating and lifestyle changes) when you are pregnant. There are many factors. If you are still concerned it wouldn't hurt to give your doctors office a call and address those concerns.

I am 34 weeks and I started out at 195 and have actually lost down to 181. I have been so sick. My Dr is not concerned b/c of my pre pregnancy weight. If you are overweight to begin with then you don't have to gain as much in the long run. My Dr said as long as the baby is measuring on track then it is fine. The baby will get what it needs from you. I am still a little worried about how much the baby will weigh and if it will be healthy but Dr isn't. So you should be fine. Good luck

If you are overweight going into the pregnancy, then it is not uncommon to end the pregnancy the same weight you started, or even lighter.

I had one patient start her pregnancy at 220lbs and weigh in at 190 at 38 weeks - as soon as she found out she was pregnant she started eating properly and exercising and whilst the pregnancy was going well, her body fat was falling away, just as if she was on a diet. I WOULD NEVER endorse doing on a weight reduction diet whilst pregnant, but sometimes this is just a natural side effect of eating better, or even eating less (if they were poor eaters or over eaters before becoming pregnant).

All up, if your doctor isn't concerned, you shouldn't be. It's not as uncommon as you may think, seeing as people tend to make a big deal about putting on weight while pregnant, you rarely hear stories about how they lost 30lbs while pregnant.

If you weighed 110lbs going into the pregnant and weren't gaining weight, THEN I would be worried.

Each person is different. I'm guessing that you have been seeing your doctor during your pregnancy? I'm sure that s/he has been measuring you, listening to the heartbeat and possibly even an ultrasound - if your doctor isn't concerned you (and more importantly your baby) should be fine. I would say that since you didn't lose any weight from your last baby that you body just didn't need any more to support this little one. Congratulations Momma!

As long as your at a healthy weight and your healthy you dont have to gain weight. The baby is going to drain you of nutrients anyway wether your skinny or fat, so the gaining of weight is basically for your body not theres. I was pretty over weight all my life, I was on my way this year to losing quite a bit of weight, Before I got pregnant I was 290 lbs i dropped to 205 lbs and found out i got pregnant. I had to stop dieting and still started to lose weight. I hit 190 at 6 months pregnant and now back up around 200lbs at 34/35 weeks... I dont want to gain anymore.
My oldest sister who has battled Anorexia for a majority of her life, was suppose to be supervised when she got pregnant with her first son, she weighed about 95 lbs and she is 6 foot 2. She gained about 10 pounds and 8 of that was a healthy baby boy. She ate everyday cause we had to watch her. The baby was fine. She was about 105 lbs with her second son and only gained about 15 lbs with him and again healthy and he was a 9 lb boy.

As long as your doctor is aware of this and your belly has been measured and the baby is growing it is okay. I hope you've been eating really healthy. that's what really matters. With my last baby I only gained 10 pounds. And he was 10 pounds! I was happy to weigh less than when I got pregnant as I was over weight still from the previous baby. Good luck!!

It probably differs per individual. But me personally, during my first pregnancy in 2005, I actually lost 20 pound from pre-pregnancy weight, through pre-birth. Of course, I lost another 10lbs after the birth. Now i'm 3 months pregnant again, and i've already lost 7lbs. My doctor explained to me that as long as i'm eating the right healthy, and the baby is growing properly, there is no need to worry.

If everything checks out with your family Doctor, then you should be fine as so should the little one. Some people dont gain much if anything during pregnancy, it could be either your activity level, or just the balencing out of food intake and how much your body is using to create the little life. I wouldn't worry too much, just keep an eye that your weight doesnt go down during pregnancy too much and that your taking your vitamins and eating right. :) Congrats for the new pregnancy!
