Simple. ;)
1. Lay the blanket out and fold one corner in (her head will go here)
2. Pull the shorter side (if there is one) over the baby, and tuck in behind her back.
3. Lift up the bottom corner (below her feet) and tuck it in at the chest, under the side you just tucked behind her.
4. Wrap remaining side all the way around her and tuck any excess into a fold at the bottom.
As long as the blanket's big enough, this is foolproof. ;)
Good luck!

My midwife showed me a much simpler way. Lay the blanket out straight in a rectangle. (need a good sized blanket to do it this way) Fold over the top of the blanket a couple inches or 3 if you can. So you still have a rectangle but with a small fold at the top. Lay the baby down in the middle of the blanket, so his shoulders and below will be wrapped. Take one side of the blanket and cross it over the babies' body and tuck it snugly under the opposite arm pit and back, then do the same with the other side and wrap that snugly under the other side except over the arms. So their arms are nice and snug against him and their legs are still covered but not constricted. It's really hard to explain in words, but so much easier and a lot more snug. My son always got out of the regular way, kicking his feet but as long as I had a good sized blanket, this was a success for a good 5 months, until he started rolling around and escaping. Good Luck.

After 3 babies where we perfected swadding, we tried a special velcro swaddling blanket with the fourth and found it to be terrible. We can do a much better job ourselves. Here's my advice:
Use two very thin layette blankets. Layer them on the floor one on top of the other in a diamond shape. Fold down one corner of the diamond. Lay the baby on the blankets wtih the shoulders just at the folded down part. Use the first blanket to swaddle--one side over and tucked, bottom folded up, and other side over and tucked. The REPEAT using the second blanket. DON'T BE AFRAID TO DO IT VERY TIGHTLY. The whole point is to replicate the tight quarters of the womb. Don't expect swaddling to work for too long, though, once they can move around and are a little more mature, they grow out of liking it usually.

we had a 'swaddle addicted' infant! He in trouble-free terms slept properly at the same time as swaddled yet all started escaping and waking each and each and every of the time! we tried the unwrapping one arm at a time, loosening the wrap, giving a lovey etc, yet no longer some thing worked. We ended up getting a snooze sack suggested as the Peke Moe it is for swaddle weaning... and it grow to be marvelous.. it worked the first evening!! he slept through a useless ringer for it had at the same time as he grow to be swaddled! we used it from about 5 months tilla bout 16months!! basically because it also saved him coated no count number the position he ended up in his crib. perhaps that would help? solid success! :)

The Snug & Tug is a swaddling blanket with style and strength. Available in 3 color combinations, the Snug & Tug was designed specifically for swaddling. Its shape, triangular, makes it easy to use. It has an extremely strong velcro closure. And you can tell it was created by moms--the velcro won't snag your other items in the laundry, there's a safety spot to fold your velcro tabs!

Let's start with a top corner of the blanket. Place baby's head at corner, take longest side piece and lay over her/him and tuck snugly under baby butt and back. Next take bottom/small corner and pull up lightly, then pull the smaller side piece over (to cover the small corner you pulled up) and tuck under other side of baby butt and back!
My little one looked even smaller when I did this to her and I always called her a "Baby Burrito"!
