Pregnancy & Parenting - 2 January 2007

I am currently 40 weeks and 2 days. I am being induced on Monday, and I was wondering what all should I expect? The Doc said that my cervix is still soft so they are going to give me medicine that will help soften the cervix. After that they will give me potossin--spelling??? I was just curious what I should expect after they give me the potossin. She also said I am at a higher risk for a c-section. Does that happen often? Just a little nervous. This is my first baby. Any advice???

hello, my name is justin. Me and my girlfriend are expecting a baby in 5 months. I have no clue on what to do..none whatsoever. I have NEVER had a father due to him being a herion atticd(i have never done drugs besides trying pot 3 times, wont ever do it again) Im 21..and stuck clueless now. I love my girlfriend and want to be by her side the whole way through,,but i dont want to mess up with anything along the way and when my son or daughter is born. Ive never had a dad rolemodel...i have no lcue on how to be a good dad. Everytime someone has ofered me to hold her baby..i refuse because he/she is soo fragile i feel like i may drop him.her or just hurt him/her in some way. I dont have a career yet even...my girlfriend is part of the council of the miwok tribe wich owns thundervalley casino and she will be getting betwen 32,000 and 52,000 dollars a month from the casion for the rest of her life...so money isnt an issue in 1 1/2 years. But being a great dad is....and helping my girlfrien

I have been off the contraceptive pill for 6 months now after taking it religously for 17 years. I am a fit and healthy 34 year old and desparately want to conceive. the baby, I am two months pregnant, and such I had no bleeding at all, but sometimes I have mild cramping like my period is comming is that normal to feel crampy. I havent had morning sickness, nor have my boobs changed really in size or color, whats wrong with me!

I have heard that some women can still get their period while they're in their first few months ofpregnancy. How is this possible? I thought having your period was the ultimate sign that you were not pregnant. I've heard that the "pregnancy periods" are shorter and lighter. Are they always shorter and lighter? Are there any other distinctions between them and a regular period? My period was about 15 days late this time, and I had unprotected sex twice a week after I was due for my depo-provera shot. For awhile I was scared I was pregnant, but I got my period yesterday. However, hypothetically, could I still be pregnant if I am getting my period and it seems to be of the same flow (I'm a moderate bleeder, not heavy or light), maybe just a bit lighter, and it started out really light but is a tad heavier now. I have the pain and weakness that I usually get with my period. Also, my breasts feel heavier and more sore. Does this sound like a "pregnancy period" or a regular period?

I just started using birth conrtol a week sand 2 days ago. I went over to my boyfriends house, and we really wanted to have sex. We did, and by accident he ejaculated inside of me. I am 29 weeks and my husband bought me a kitten for christmas, it is very cute, and we both love him, but he is evil! my arms are covered in scratches, he pounces on our feet he even leapt at my face the other day, he is just being playful but i am really scared of how he is going to be with the baby. I was recently on tri-sprintic birth control but stopped it in nov. I had 2 periods in nov. and the second one was bc i stopped my pills. I stopped the pills between the 22-25. Well in dec. i did not take any more pills and still had a period and it was like a regular one. Me and my fiance want to start trying to have a baby together next month. We have tried before but had no luck so we want to start trying again. Does anyone know if its possible for me to get pregnant since i had just stopped the pills and if so how long would it take? I dont wanna go to my doctor because i am deaf and id need a family member there to let me know whats being said and if my grandma knows she will be really mad since i live with her. I am 19 and my fiance is 26. I dont have a Gyn or anything so can someone please answer the above questions? Thanks.

My dad will sometimes want to come over so he can see the boys and then when he gets here all he does is watch TV, play tetris, go on the internet or read something. Then when it's time to go he wants the boys to hug and kiss him goodbye. They rarely want to do it on their own initiative. It's something I almost have to force them to do. I know that my older son (4) says he doesn't like it when grandpa tickles him when he gives hugs. I remember when I was little my dad always had to get in a tickle when he hugged me or a whisker rub. I hated both. Now he's doing it to my kids and they don't like it either. Even though my son has told him he doesn't like it when he tickles him, while he hugs him he still does it sometimes. And at my parents house my dad is a little more interactive with them but not much. It probably doesn't help that their other granpa is wonderful with them. Should I force my kids to hug their grandpa? How can I get them to like him more?

Okay, I don't want to get pregnant right now, but I have done things that could have gotten me pregnant but I didn't get pregnant. For example, a couple of times while I was on "the pill" but had missed 2 doses (2 pills), my boyfriend ejaculated inside me and I did not get pregnant luckily. After I was about a week overdue for my second depo-provera injection ("the shot"), I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend twice--once he ejaculated inside of me, the second he "pulled out" but I know women can still pregnant with this method. And before I was even on birth control, my bf used condoms and I never got pregnant. Once it broke and I took the morning-after pill as directed. But I know of girls who have become pregnant from having sex with condoms, from having sex only a week after their depo-provera shot is due, and from missing a couple of pills while on the pill. I have not tried to get pregnant, but have tried to prevent it. It just makes me think: Am I infertile?
