My first was 5 weeks early (35 weeks), so only weighed 6 lbs 3 oz. I had gestational diabetes with him.
My second was 8 lbs 7 oz at 39 weeks. I was not diagnosed with GD that pregancy, but he DID have a little trouble with his blood sugar after he was born..
My third was 38 weeks and weighed 8 lbs 15 oz. I was not diagnosed with GD with that pregnacy either, but we had to stay in the hospital an extra day because HIS blood sugar kept wanting to bottom out, worse than my second.
Mine got bigger each time, but I think I had GD with all three..
And we are trying for #4..lol
Just my exp.

My first was a son born at 38 weeks weighing in at 7 pounds. My second was a girl born at 36 weeks weighing 6 pounds. Since they gain half a pound a week the last few weeks I would guess they both would have been 8 pounds had I gone to term.

Literature says that they do. Boys also tend to weigh more than girls. However, my first was 8lbs 3oz (a boy), my second was 6lbs 8oz (a girl), and my third was 8lbs 5oz (another girl). I had pre-eclampsia all three times, which may have contributed to the second's lower weight, but I really think it just depends on the baby and the pregnancy. They're all different.

There are recent studies that state you increase your chances of having a bigger baby if you don't lose the baby weight from the first one. My mom is walking proof. I was 8 lbs 6 oz, my mom lost all the weight she gained with me and my first brother was 7 lbs 8 oz, lost all the weight from him and my second brother was 7 lbs 3 oz, didn't lose all the weight with him and my sister was 7 lbs 11 oz...
