first off I would get him in to be fixed and have his front claws removed. Some people sat it is inhumane to declaw, but I have all of my 4 cats declawed for safety reasons. Don;t do the back though as they need those for protection, especially if they get outside. I would also keep him a strictly indoor cat. If you have things like a crib, swing or bouncy yet cover them in tinfoil, the cat will jump on it and get scared or whatever and won;t jump in it again...theoretically speaking. we havn;t tried that yet. Hopefully he will settle down with time, but if you think he won;t...it is not hard to give away a kitten, seems everybody wants one.
we have 4 cats, and while you can get toxolasmosis from cats, it is more dangerous if your cat is an outdoor cat. Have hubby cahnge the litter, better safe than sorry. Stay out of sandboxes while pregnant as outdoor cats use them as litterboxes. It is fine to have a cat around a baby as long as you never let it in the room while baby is sleeping. we have 4 cats 2 kids and another one on the way and we are not getting rid of any of them. you want a cat and a baby...then you need to be more vigilant. Also if you keep the cat, amke sure you bring home a hat from the hospital that the baby has worn so that the cat can get to know the smell of the child before you bring him or her home, as to the cat this is HIS house and the baby will be considered an "invader" of sorts.

Definately don't get rid of the kitten!! Kittens are always playful and hyper but they will calm down. I would suggest if the kitten is 6 months or more, getting him spayed/neutered and front paws declawed. Once you have them fixed, they will calm down ALOT. Train the kitten with a squirt bottle. If you don't want it doing something, squirt at it. After a few times it usually gets the point and will stop. Also don't leave your baby unattended around the kitten. And at night, keep the kitten away from the babies room by either closing the babies door and using baby monitors, or keep the cat in another area where it doesn't have access to the babies room. (Make sure it has access to its food dish, water and litter though obviously) My cats are very sweet and I don't think they would be a threat to our baby. The only thing I'm concerned about is my 20 pound cat, he discovered the crib and decided to jump in and sleep in it. Would definately not be good with a sleeping baby in there!! Anyway, you can make it work. Cats are a joy....I love mine to death.

The kitten IS NOT evil. It is a normal kitten. They like to play rough. Another kitten would solve the problem. If that isn't possible, use a spray bottle.

Well .. I am 33 weeks pregnant and I would get rid of the kitten. At least for a while. The kitten migth outgrow it but if its naturally playfull its gonna stay that way. It is very dangerous. ANy animal is dangerous around small babies. We had to leave our dog with my husbands aunt cuz she was too playful.

I wouldn't worry about it... the kitten will probably calm down with age. By the time you have your baby you may even see a difference, and by the time the baby is old enough to want to play with the cat, it should be calmed down quite considerably. If your cat is still overly rambunctious, you can use a spray bottle to correct bad behavior. Good luck!

I don't know about training, in fact, kinda facing the same thing with my cat (he's about 5, and EVIL!). If nothing else, you might consider keeping the kitty's claws trimmed or even removed. I just have to figure out what to do about the biting! Oh, and it's the kitty litter you should steer clear of, not necessarily the kitty. Make sure hubby changes the box.

A kitten for Christmas? That is the most stupid present I ever heard of for a pregnant woman. What is your husband trying to do to you and the baby? This Question is all the more interesting when set alongside your other posting ...

I have a 2 week old and I'm getting rid of our kitten on Thursday! You will probably do the same once your baby is born...just too risky with a newborn! Good luck...p.s. I don't think kittens can be trained not to be kittens, thats why mine is going to another good home.

Ouch, that's a kitten for you though. Should have adopted and older cat 1 or 2 years old at least. The best you can do is put it outside. I hope you don't get toxemia. Make your hubby change the litter so you won't. Be careful also that kitty doesn't jump in the crib and go after babies milk breath smothering him/her if you decide to keep the kitty indoors.

I have always been told you should not be around cats or atleast not thier littler while your PG cause it can be toxic. I dont know for sure I never had cats when I was PG but just thought I would let you know what I heard. and I would be afraid to how the kitty would act around the baby too. If he is leap at you he might leap at the baby.
