Pregnancy & Parenting - 1 November 2006

I know this is going to get some sarcastic responses but it's ok because I am asking this for advice and opinions.
How long after you miss your period should you test?
I know some women will show earlier than others due to the HCG levels.
This will actually be my first time having to take a HPT, altho this is my second child.
With him I would up in the ER due to migrains causing me to pass out, low and behold I was pg. I went to get checked and found out I was almost 25 weeks pg.
I know it seems hard to believe but it happens.
I just would like to hear other womean responses/advice/opinions

i am 10 weeks pregnant, the ultrasound looked great at 7 weeks and everything but i was getting so sick i was in the hospital on iv's last week, now all of a sudden i feel so much better. Is that normal?

My 6 almost 7 year old first grader was resently tested for adhd. He is going back for his second test tomarrow. The plan is to give him one pill of ridalin 90min before to see if he does better, if so they will prescribe him some medicine. Well my worry is that I've heard some scarry stuff about this kind of meds. Are there any parents who have an adhd child, that have any dos or don'ts with this type of medicine?

Personally, I think that when it comes to parenting, it should be ALL or nothing. For me, my biological father was not around AT ALL. We didnt even have phone contact. Several friends of mine have fathers that have been in and out of their lives, and that seems to really hurt them. Personally, I think that if a parent doesnt want to commit, they should just stay away completely, because it seems to tear their children up, never knowing if their dad (or mom) really loves them, and when they are going to see them again. Not having my real father around at all allowed me to accept a wonderful stepdad into my life, and I didnt have to go thru the sense of loss and rejection that my friends did when their dad wouldnt call them for a year. He just stepped back, accepted that he wasnt right for my mother or me, and let us build our lives.

In your opinion, is 'something better than nothing', or is it 'all or nothing', when it comes to parenting?

I was molested at 5 by my friends 17 year old brother. I am scared someone will hurt her. My daughter is only 7 and my mother keeps telling me I will regret it for the rest of my life if something happens to her. Still, until 7 months ago she was an only child and my brothers have no children for her to play with. I let her stay once with my neighbor and once at a birthday slumber party. Now she won't stop asking and crying. I have no problem letting her friends stay at my house. After what happened to me, I could not stay with friends until I was 13.

I painted my dad's TV green cuz I thought it would glow radioactive rays.

I build a catapole out of laundry bags and shot all the clothes to Mr. Stevenson's backyard.

Metoo and I dug up the flower garden so we can barry my GI Joes.

I painted Dillon's face like Spiderman.

I traded my bike for a used military radio.

I wanted to build a flamethrower and asked my mom to get me the parts.

I lifted the skirt of Ms. Young infront of the class and got in HUGE TROUBLE for it... that was funny.

Well, I can't think of it anymore... I love my mom and dad and Dillon and Metoo... but I always get in trouble. :(

She's stubborn & strong-willed (like her mama, lol), which can be good. But the problem is she refuses to let me brush her teeth almost every night now.This has gone on for awhile.I've taken her to the dentist for a professional cleaning & hoped they would give her a good "talking-to", but they didn't. She didn't like the strong toothpaste they used,so I tried threatening to take her back if she won't brush, but it hasn't worked.(Also I don't want to turn the dentist into a negative,fearful thing.)She has at least 10 different toothbrushes(regular & battery-operated),at least 6 different kinds of toothpaste from toddler to regular kid stuff, from fruit to bubblegum flavor.And still she kicks & screams & covers her mouth.She won't do it herself either.I started a reward chart,but it doesn't seem to be having much effect.She sees me brushing & flossing all the time.I know it's a power struggle between us, but if I don't react & just do nothing, I know she'd never brush. HELP!!! Thanks.

I found an ebook on a website about knowing the signs of readiness and how to effectively train in 3 days or less. I started my period on time last week but it lasted for about 3-4 hours!? (supposed to be 6 days) well i was talking to my cuzin on sunday,she asked if i was still trying to get pregnant and i said no cuz im tierd of stressing over a (-). So i was telling her what happend last week and she said i should get a pg test.i really didnt want to. so Mon i got one and took it and it was a faint positive and i was like (wtf). well then 30-45mins went by and i went pee and wiped and i had some blood but it was orange!? i showed my sister and we went to the ER well they gave me a exam to see if i was having a MC. but i wasnt and the pg test i took there was (-).So tue morning i took another pg test and it was (+).well as the day went by i started to feel cramping and when i peed i had a peach/orange/brown color of blood pooring out. i felt somthing come out it looked like a thin blood clot with like a gray hard thing!? today im bleeding reg. no cramps. Does anyone know whats going on? any info?

I was just wondering what your opinions on the subject of calling CPA on someone are.
I live in an apartment and I believe my neighbor is neglecting and abusing her children.
I don't have proof...I just hear alot going on over there.
I don't know if I should get involved or not!
I just feel if I dont I am letting those children be hurt.
What are your opinions on this?

I had my period September 29 and it lasted 2 days! Usually my periods are 3-5 days and are generally 24-27 days apart. I have unprotected sex September 28, October 12,13 and 14. I have yet to see my october period and october has come and gone. I took a hpt October 29 and Also today, but they were negative. I realize I have P.C.O.S and that alone can cause "abnormal" periods. But since January my periods have been predictable........ I'm not really sure what my question other then Is this a P.C.O.S episode or is it possible im pregnant and just not far enough for the test to be positive? I'm just needing answeres...... Thanks for any advice or answers u can give me......

I ask alot of question and every1 has been so helpfull with answering so thank you all (if uve seen my other Q's im bout 37 weeks) I went to my cousins and some lady had just had a baby. I'd say she was less than 3 weeks old; i got to hold her. She was so cute but so tiny. She squirmed around and made cute funny faces. Im just afriad that when I have my little girl I will accidently drop her or something. I know nothing about newborns and so scared I duno what to do. there will be no dad in her life so Im about all she'll have other than family, and though weve had 6 new babys in the last 2 years Its petrifying i might mess up in some way. (I do not do classes, I have somewhat of a.. we'll say 'selfconcious issue' becasue my age (15) dont get me wrong tho Im excited for my baby and anyone who has a anything discouraging can kiss my *. I think its more me being insecure about myself having a baby being so young and clueless.) but if anyone has any words of advice, tips or encouragement
