If it is sooo horrible to put rice in formula, it's a wonder why Enfamil makes ADDED RICE formula. It was used with both of my children. And after a few months, i even added rice to the Enfamil AR. My boys did so much better on that. As far as feeding with your children, take most of the "rules" and throw them out. Each child is different. My 13 month old started jar baby food at 3 months. As in eating 2 jars twice a day, at three months. Babies handled formula, milk, food, etc different. So, if you want to use rice, use RICE!!! I don't know if it truly makes them sleep longer, but as far as satisfying their tummys more than regular, I thought so. It won't make your kid FAT.
Just look for signs from you baby when he is ready to try new things. Don't go "by the book".

Sadly, it's an old wives' tale that cereal in the bottle makes a child sleep. It typically doesn't work and isn't really good for the baby (it's digestive system is still too small to deal with it). If you haven't already tried it, read The Happiest Baby on the Block or get the DVD and swaddle your child. The child hates it for a few minutes, then suddenly totally relaxes. Best wishes!

OK I can only tell you what I did, but with my baby who is now 6 months old I started her on cereal when she was 3 months because she wasn't getting full off of her milk. Her doctor advised giving her 2 teaspoons of cereal in her bottle. The only problem I had was it always clogged the nipples so I had to have one nipple just for her cereal and poke a bigger hole in it. However, I don't give Madison her cereal at night because it causes her to get sick and throw-up more when she sleeps. As for the other reply it is safe to give babies cereal in their bottles if you find it hard to feed you child with a spoon then put it in a bottle and cut the nipple bigger it goes down better, it takes some babies awhile to adjust. However, she was right you shouldn't introduce cereal until 4 months old unless advised by a doctor. Hope I helped you a little.

First thing, ALL babies are different. With that said each of their systems and needs are also different. My youngest son weighed 9lbs 14oz...after a few months milk wasn't satisfying him at all, he was wanting to eat every 2 hours. I put about a tablespoon of rice cereal in his milk, you couldn't even tell it was in there, I didn't have to cut a bigger hole in the nipple or anything. All I know is it seemed to be what he needed because he didn't want to eat as often and didn't wake up screaming like he was starving to death. He would wake up happy and playful because he got the rest he needed. He is now 15 yrs old and isn't and never has been overweight. Hope this helps you to see the benefit for one tired and hungry baby, with no long term over eating or overweight issues.

First of all your baby shouldn't be eating cereal at 3 months, and second of all, you never ever put cereal in a bottle. Your baby doesn't have the proper digestive enzymes in his stomach yet to be digesting anything other than milk or formula.

Its not bad at all I have started putting cereal in my 6 week olds last bottle this week & he has become settle even during the day. He has been having his last bottle around 8.30pm and not waking up until 6am. I only put about half a teaspoon in the bottle. With my first child my mother suggested it and I started her when she was five weeks. I have five children and have done so with all of them and they are all healthy.

Call your pediatrician- or the doctor on call. Some babies need more nutrients than just formula or breast milk to help them sleep through the night. Usually they will recommend a very diluted cereal before bed-- the ratio of milk/to what kind of cereal is the critical answer which must be made by your pediatrican. Good luck-- a lot of babies need cereal early on- especially if they were born at 8 lbs or more.

You shouldn't do it unless your baby has GERD. If your child has GERD this will help to keep it down but other than that you should not because it can cause excessive weight gain. You shouldn't use it as a way to get your baby to go longer at night until wanting fed again because over filling your baby can be very dangerous. When your baby is too full and you lay him/her down the stomach pushes up on the diaphragm making it difficult for the baby to breath if the stomach is too full.

No giving infant nutrition to a 12 week previous isn't the respond, as he's a few distance too youthful for infant nutrition. he's prolly dealing with a larger growth spurt then he has previously, that occurs around 3 months previous, and so it may decelerate in a week or so. i might in basic terms feed him for as long as he needs as oftentimes as he needs and quickly he could desire to be returned to a extra commonplace schedule.

It really won't help you with any problems and will just create more in digestion and sleep. If you introduce solids, it should not be until four months old. Only then should you give the cereal mixed as directed.
