I was just wondering what your opinions on the subject of calling CPA on someone are.
I live in an apartment and I believe my neighbor is neglecting and abusing her children.
I don't have proof...I just hear alot going on over there.
I don't know if I should get involved or not!
I just feel if I dont I am letting those children be hurt.
What are your opinions on this?

I think that its more neglect then abuse.
I have seen the mother leave the apt. and go upstairs to her boyfriends apt. and you can hear her kids calling "mommy" and crying. I have seen and heard her yell at them to shut up and be quiet its so mean.
And the kids are only about 2 or 3 years old.
I have also seen marks on there faces and arms but they could be from falls.

If you believe there may be something going on, give hem a CPS a call and ask them to do a saftey check. You can ask to stay anomous & you will sleep much better at night. Also if something were to happen to one of the children & you did not call, you will prob. never forgive yourself.

Ok, first of all, I thought CPA was a accountant (my husband is a CPA) so I was slightly confused. Once I got that cleared up, I came to the conclusion that you should certainly call. If you suspect something is going on, you should do something about it. A simple call to CPA to tell someone what you suspect is going on and what you hear might not just clear your conscience, but save some kids at the same time.

Absolutely and dont wait another day!. Your call can be anonymous so your neighbor does not even have to know it was you---call children's services or if you actually here fighting or know for sure that children underage are left alone in the apartment, call the police. Thank you for being a good neightbo- there would be less abuse of children if there were more people like you!

Well you wouldn't be calling a CPA -- it stands for Certified Public Accountant.
You want to call a child protection service which is a social service organization. I suggest you be really sure about your charges. Check to see if you can make the abuse claim anonymous. Neglect is very hard to prove.
I don't believe that is a mistake if you make the call when anyone is being abused. The one thing they will do is knock on the people's door to investigate the allegation.

I would call the cps, if it turns out that you are wrong, then at least you did something. I guess the question is what if you are right and didn't do something.
The neglect by leaving the children alone, is worth calling by itself, I would never ever dream of leaving my children alone, it is not done

Better safe than sorry. maybe it can be a wake up call to the mother or it could be benefit to the children by being taken away.
Either way, I don't condone leaving young children alone nor told to "shut up" in that sense.

Better to call them and nothing be going on than not call them and something is going on.
Just tell them what you hear. And throw in the demeanor of the kids when you see them outside, and the attitude of the parents if you think that would get them out there faster.

You have to have more than a lot of yelling to tell CPS. They are gonna ask you what you have seen and its obviously not much. I dont see them doing much of anything with the little you have. You dont seem to have much basis, but your instincts. Just keep your eyes open and maybe when you do actually see something bad, then you can call.

cps will not do much unless there is physical proof when they get there, i have a friend who is a child welfare social worker and my brother in law and his girlfriend did drugs around their daughter, i asked my friend what she can do and she said nothing unless they show up and there's a pipe on the table, wut r the chances of that? just maybe inform the school to look out and report anything. but give a call it'll help u sleep better knowing u tried!
