Pregnancy & Parenting - 28 June 2006

I put this in parenting because I know parents know a lot about immunization.
I want to get the vaccines I never had as a child. I know I never had the ones for Hep. A or B, meningitis, or pneumonia. I am a very sickly type person and want to get these even if they're not required. Can I go and start these all in one day? Shots really don't bother me so that's not an issue. I just wanna get them done ASAP. How many can a doctor give in one day. Can I get all those?

Granted it was about the "inappropriate kind" and we have answered their questions throughout them growing up as well as educated them, ie, abstinance, condoms, birth control, also all the other alternatives if that should happen, even with sex education classes through out Jr High and High School in which now a days they teach "abstinance only" which in my view is unrealistic, they also have witnessed their cousins who are numerous struggle with their kids, they all started young....Can anyone tell me if you have done all the right things to prevent them from getting in the family way, why our daughter who is 16 didn't want to listen? To what she has seen with her own eyes, or paid any mind to the education that we instructed as well as the schools?
A very frustrated soon to be grandma....Don't get me wrong we will support her and babies are a blessing........but Jeez.........They really have no clue...

For a boy:

Alexander Thomas (Middle name is my husband's name, his father's name and his grandfather's name, so its a "family name" but we didn't want to have Thomas as our baby's first name)

For a girl:

Olivia Grace (Not named after anyone, we don't like any of the female names in our families, but we thought this name was so beautiful and classic)

Any suggestions?

If my baby registry barely has anything except clothes, a high chair, car seat, etc. and a family member wants to know what else our baby needs, would it be okay to suggest paying for swimming lessons or baby gymnastics?

My husband's grandma would want to buy us a big purchase, but we don't have much left to buy, so would it be okay to mention it to her?

My three year old daughter is very independent If she doesn't get her way she will cry no matter what it is about. When I do try to discipline her she thinks it is funny. She doesn't listen, however my soon to be 2 year old does listen if she isn't around her sister. I don't know how to deal with this. I love my kids but sometimes I can't stand to be around them because they just don't listen. She won't try to learn her abc's or numbers because she tells me she doesn't need to. I have spent a lot of money for books that I thought would be fun but she isn't interested b/c I ask her to do it. I know she is very smart just by her talking to me. She has a need to change her sister's diaper ( and does it very well) but when it comes to listening to me or her father it is non existent. If anyone can help me that would be great.

She was born 3 1/2 week early and weighed 6 lb and was 18 inches.She turned 4 mos on the 15th, she weighs 14 lb 9 oz and is 24 inches, she doesn't seem small to me but people tell me that she is small. I'm not worried or anything just wondering if that is small for 4 mos.

someone falsely accused me of abusing my children. on top of the fact that i can no longer spank when necessary for fear of losing them, when cps did not find any proof of abuse, they tried to come after us to prove us as unfit parents, why are they wasting their resources on me, a good parent, instead of turning to children who really need help?

On June 4, i found out i was 4weeks pregnant. Two days later had a natural miscarriage. I bleed for 5days. After the bleeding stop, the doctor told me to use condoms and i can go back on the patch. Two weeks later, i have been on the patch for three days and my husband and i had sex without a condom. He *** in me and now i am worried that i can get pregnant again. I have heard it can happen. i got my tubes tied a year and a half ago after if had my second baby. my doctor said that there is a very small chance i could get pregnant in the next 10 years. i want to know if there is a way to increase those chances and if anyone has gotten pregnant after having a tubal.......not that i want another baby right away, i just want to know if there is a small chance i could still have a son.

Is it safe? I've been told by family members if you sleep on your back during pregnancy theirs a slight chance it could kill your baby or even cause brain damage. Supposely when you sleep on your back you stop the blood flow from a large vain located on your back to your baby, is this true? or just another pregnancy myth?
