Thank God someone else feels the way I do!!! I think the cheerios in the toilet is ridiculous! It only teaches a child that it is okay to pee on food. Yuck!

I answer a lot of potty training questions and there are always so many people suggesting putting cheerios in the toilet for their child to aim at. I have potty trained many children and never needed a cheerio! There are so many better ways to train a child.

Nope, but I hadn't heard about the Cheerios in the toilet thing back when my boys were little. I used to tear up pieces of toilet paper and float them in the toilet. We'd call that "sink the boats." What you're describing is probably a good reason not to use food in the toilet. I guess it sends kind of a mixed message.
Mrs. Biggles--the Cheerios got in there as an "aiming" aid for toilet training boys.

No, but I'd rather she did than eat something out of the sink. Toilet water is cleaner than the sides of your sink...

Ew!! If the toilet had nothing in it but CLEAN water, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If not...yikes...

I find it would be rather difficult to stash the lil sucker IN it to begin with...I just let him eat em in front of TV
