Isn't it true that many simply stay at home knowing that their state is going to go either Red or Blue regardless of their input?

How do you think this will affect future politics? I've read that this is expected to happen in other states in a few years, too.

Personally, I think political candidates will begin paying more attention to minority rights than they do now.

Right now in my world history class, we go over this topic couple of times, and we have a split between people that think yes and people that think no.
The US is involved in many different conflicts around the world, so they practically are being the police man of the world.
What do you think about it?

Tell me why we shouldn't socialize healthcare.
(The following is a rant. You don't have to continue reading. I apologize now for getting feelings involved lol)
Because here I sit making only .50 above the CHIPs healthcare line.
But my company wanted to take $200 PER PAY CHECK out to pay for healthcare for my entire family.
I have to ask -- from a working class/lower-middle class position -- DO YOU THINK I CAN REALLY AFFORD THAT?!
Sure; the CEO and his partners can. I cannot. I was a secretary; how's that going to benefit me?!
I'm sorry; I'm ranting.
Answer the question! lol

For me it was the one about WMD in Iraq and "imminent mushroom clouds" over American cities.

I still piss myself when I think about how many people fell for that one.

Recall he threw a fit at the moneychangers and sellers of sacrificial animals.
And In mark 10 (Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me......
Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.) Similar thoughts in Matthew 19
and in Luke 16 we see (But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that in your lifetime you got the good things and Lazarus the bad things. It’s not like that here. Here he’s consoled and you’re tormented.)
Also In 2 Corinthians 8("For you know the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich yet for your sakes he became poor so that through his poverty you might become rich.") & beautides

I seem to recal that Saddam denied UN weapons inspectors into Iraq which triggered the US invasion. Given the political climate at the time, I say Saddam got what he deserved.

Australia was the last remaining industrialized holdout other than the US. And now that the Australian PM Howard was defeated, the new PM has indicated Australia will sign the Kyoto Accords.

No wonder the rest of the world hates the US. We won't sacrifice any of our precious lifestyle to help contain problems caused by emissions.

The Fox at the point of Death
From Immortal Poetry
Jump to: navigation, search
Fable XXIX

A fox, in life's extreme decay,
Weak, sick, and faint, expiring lay;
All appetite had left his maw,
And age disarmed his mumbling jaw.
His numerous race around him stand
To learn their dying sire's command:
He raised his head with whining moan,
And thus was heard the feeble tone:
'Ah, sons! from evil ways depart:
My crimes lie heavy on my heart.

See, see, the murdered geese appear!
Why are those bleeding turkeys here?
Why all around this cackling train,
Who haunt my ears for chicken slain?
The hungry foxes round them stared,
And for the promised feast prepared.
'Where, sir, is all this dainty cheer?
Nor turkey, goose, nor hen is here.
These are the phantoms of your brain,
And your sons lick their lips in vain.'

'O gluttons!' says the drooping sire,
'Restrain inordinate desire.
Your liqu'rish taste you shall deplore,
When peace of conscience is no more.
Does not the hound betray our pace,
And gins and guns destroy our race?
Thieves dread the searching eye of power,
And never feel the quiet hour.
Old age (which few of us shall know)
Now puts a period to my woe.

Would you true happiness attain,
Let honesty your passions rein;
So live in credit and esteem,
And the good name you lost, redeem.'
'The counsel's good,' a fox replies,
'Could we perform what you advise.
Think what our ancestors have done;
A line of thieves from son to son:
To us descends the long disgrace,
And infamy hath marked our race.

Though we, like harmless sheep, should feed,
Honest in thought, in word, and deed;
Whatever henroost is decreased,
We shall be thought to share the feast.
The change shall never be believed,
A lost good name is ne'er retrieved.'
'Nay, then,' replies the feeble fox,
'(But hark! I hear a hen that clocks)
Go, but be moderate in your food;
A chicken too might do me good
