MP's voted for or against the War in Iraq. Was it such a good thing to leave the vote in their hands?

Ok, say I vote for a candidate who doesn't get elected. Say I'm not Labour or Conservative, but Liberal Democrat. And my guy doesn't get elected.

Is it possible to think that the person who does get elected is not truely representing my voice in parliament, since I didn't vote for him.

Therefore, they're voting for/ against the War not on my behalf?
Should the vote be put to the public then?

I was just interested, it seems like they don't swing everything over to the extreme left when they report. Some of these other networks are run by socialists, seriously.

I don't believe it has worked for more than 30 years . Whether it's during a Republican administration or a Democrat Administration .

So my question to you is this. . .. . . WHY ? . . Why doesn't it work anymore ? What's different from the past ?

I think it's the result of many things including and foremost , the liberal teaching ideology . Not enough or any personal responsibility for anything . No corporal punishment . No instant punishment . The notion that we must accept and understand everybody . And the big one. . . . . . The removal of God from our schools . The Christian God that is .

Now I'm sure some of you will disagree and others will agree , so put into words exactly what you think is responsible . Unless of course you think it's working , but if you do , then you must understand that many if not most can provide evidence that it's not .

Naturally, the common people don't want war, but they can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. Tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and endangering the country. It works the same in every country. - Herman Goering, Hitler's Reichsmarschall at the Nuremberg trials.

Sad that he's been out of office for the last 7 years, but is still allowed to run free. Since he no longer has presidential immunity, is there any chance he will be brought to justice for his RAPE of Monica Lewinsky? Myself and millions of other fair-minded Americans wish to know.

Terrorists are angry. Whay are they angry?? Because the West gives them alot to be angry about - bombing Arab / Muslim countries (basically non-Christian /democratic). If we stop behaving like this, then terrorists will have no reason to be crazy...When there is a cure for a disease, there is no longer a need to fight it. WHY cant someone explain this simple concept to Bush, Blair etc. Then maybe we can all live worry-free again!!

should the Democrats refuse to fund the war?

I originally was against cutting off funding, but am starting to think it is the only way that Bush will ever change course and listen to the American people.

I see headlines about how a certain political decision is costing them votes. I wonder then if every decision should be made based on what the majority think or should it be based on what the politician or official thinks is the best course of action. If say the population has an average IQ of 100 but the person we elected to make decisions like this is 160. Shouldn't we be trusting them or should we expect them to ensure that the will of the general population is enforced even when it can be wrong?

If so, I will call the war in Iraq the 'democrats war' and not 'Bush's war'. Afterall, we were told that we could NOT enlist the help of the dems, because we should 'stay the course'...the very strategy that is responsible for the situation in Iraq...so, should we still blame congress for approving the use of force? Or would it be alright to make Bush accountable for the handling of the Iraq war?

Inflation serves the critical social purpose of resolving incompatible demands of different groups.

Like tobacco companies that settled law suites in dozens of states limiting liability ,shouldn't corporations be actively doing the same thing now . .
They do not have to since laws are being written to protect corporations from such liability .
Why have such laws unless you are guilty in the first place .

In a huge victory in the fight against global warming the Supreme Court today issued a ruling in the case of Massachusetts v. EPA decisively rejecting the Bush administration's inaction on global warming , In a 5-4 vote .
Bush has attempted to lower standards and currently lobbyists are attempting to get limits on liability for polluters established .
This will make settlements payable to states like the Tobacco lawsuits denying individuals the right to sue .
Much is left to be done before we are allowed to come to the conclusion that we do have an effect on our environment and lately it has been cause for alarm among scientists .

Seriously. You can hate the war and think it was a big mistake. But here you have numerous intelligence sources telling you that Iraq has WMD's. He was given the intel. Senators Clinton and Edwards were given that intel. They all decided to trust that intel (that may have been a mistake - but a lie?).

So, our leaders trusted in the intelligence community, and made a decision that they felt was the best for America.

Once again, you can say it was faulty intelligence, a mistake, etc,etc (which undoubtedly you will). But the real issue is - how can you say it was a lie?

We blamed them for working with Bush and going to war, and we blame them for working with Bush to try and end it? When do we stop blaming congress for Bush and the republican strategy, and start forcing the party of accountability to take some credit?
