And do PBS or NPR have the courage to conduct a similar self examination and to make the necessary changes to bring their institutions into the mainstream of American society and opinion?

Thanks tttplttttt for the two articles. I am not shocked that a vast overrepresentation of homosexuals at the BBC is a cause for their continued extreme bias and agenda.

BBC is one of the worst leftwing biased outlets. They are entrenched and powerful, not likely to change.

The BBC itself admitted their anti-American and anti-Israeli leanings in reporting months ago and it hasn't seemed to change anything:

IMO, having lived in England, there's no comparison in American entities because they are either pro-USA or anti-USA, which isn't good, but at least it doesn't encourage hatred of countries and cultures. Coincidently, the BBC is also government funded like AlJazeera. There is a "TV Tax" charged to residents.

I could see the indoctrinated hatred that's been instilled in the British when I lived there. And this was before Bush and I'm not talking about "Death to America" protests. This was strictly from their caucasian population. It's a bigotry, an accepted and indoctrinated one. It always amazes me when Americans think other countries as so similar to us. It's just not true.

There's also a tie to other Commonwealth media because you'll see the same programming in all countries. Canada's has also been accused of bias. And you can clearly see their anti-Americanism if you live there.

Believe me, the USA has a long way to go before we can consider that we're being indoctrinated the way other countries are.

:: You bet. Thanks for asking the question. Mindless hatred encourages violence and war, and also assimilates immigrants from backward countries with the same hatred in their new 'western' country.

I doubt it. I don't listen to NPR, but do watch some of the PBS shows. I find some very informing, but their formula usually dedicates the last 8 to 10 minutes to "MAN IS BAD". That's when I usually flip thru the channels and settle on the last 10 minutes of the 2005 World Series of Poker.

The BBC should be shut down and Judy Swallow should be jailed for contempt of her listeners.

The talking heads on NPR should be required to clearly state their voting record and their political biases BEFORE they open their mouths about anything else.

Same for PBS - except for Jim Lehrer's NewsHour where, even though you can tell the talking heads' biases, they don't let them interfere with doing their jobs. Remarkable, really, in this day and age.

No. the American press didn't start to get more balanced until Fox news came along & gave conservative viewers a choice. CNN & other stations had to change or lose 50% of it's viewers.

I have seen some BBC articles on the war that are just outright lies. I have no respect for that news organization anymore.
