as an Englishman who has just returned from the USA on a business trip i feel i must ask this.
Most Americans claim to speak "AMERICAN", but to me its just English with a few "whoops" and basic spelling errors.
I think we all know what the Americans are trying to do , but im sorry its "ENGLISH" and just by changing the word "COLOUR", doesnt make it anything else.Cheerio

Free Housing, food stamps, medical services, rent/utilities assistance, DCFS, childcare, scholarships, WIC, legal services, etc...every conceivable need is met (and often exceeded) by a plethora of various government programs and agencies.

Right now poor people are actually encouraged to stay poor. If you are poor, you can go to college for free, not have to work, and make money having babies. Why would people try and overcome poverty when we have made it so comfortable; what incentive is there?!

Do any liberals doubt for one second that if their political leaders called for mass executions of liberals, intellectuals, and other non-christian dissidents, several of the conservative posters on this site would stand back and let it happen?

For example, cons say social spending does not reduce poverty, but instead does the opposite. They say it increases poverty.

The FACTS show otherwise.

During the liberal 1960s with JFK's "New Frontier" and LBJ's "Great Society" programs, the poverty rate was almost cut in HALF!

It went from 22.2% in 1960 to 12.8% in 1968. The second biggest drop was under Clinton. It went from 14.8% in 1992 to 11.3% in 2000. Of course, the biggest drop probably happened under FDR and his New Deal policies. Unfortunately no data is available for those times.

On the other hand, poverty stayed the same under Reagan and increased under both Bush's.

Why do so many people on YA say that Liberals are to "blame" for PC? And what if we do say something that is NOT PC? What happens? Who MAKES you say anything at all? What "punishment" is there for NOT being PC? And what's so wrong with not insulting people we don't even know?

would Republicans and Conservatives be screaming for his impeachment?

Does anyone honestly believe that GW is a Conservative? While he is far better than the idiots the left trotted out, he would never be worthy of licking the bootstraps of a real Conservative like Reagan or Buckley.

I just saw a question asking if Clinton was such a bad prez, why was his apporoval rating so high, even after impeachment. You also hear liberals constantly justify retreat and surrender in Iraq because of the poll numbers. Chris Mathew can't make one single point without bringing up poll numbers. What do you think the poll numbers were in 1860 about freeing slaves? What about 1940 polls on women voting?

The fact is that the popularity of a position is completely different than the righteousness of a position. And NEVER should a war be fought by voters or even politicians. You might as well put a 6 year old in charge. Why can't liberals understand this?

Let me start by identifying my belief....I have mostly conservative views but some liberal views as well. Prayer brought back into school is a huge issue with a lot of strong conservatives and my opinion is that it should never happen. If not for any other reason than that if you give christians organized public prayer, you must then give atheists, muslims, satanic cults and anyone else who wants it the time to do the same........what are your thoughts?

George Bush has used "signing statements" more than all of the other American Presidents.....combined.

Bush has used signing statements to " ignore more than 750 laws that have been enacted since he took office."

"Bush has appended statements to new laws when he signs them, noting which provisions he believes interfere with his powers."

"Among the laws Bush has challenged are the ban on torturing detainees, oversight provisions in the USA Patriot Act, and ``whistle-blower" protections for federal employees."

"Bush has challenged more laws than all previous presidents combined"
