Never hated the Soviet Union, but was always wary of them.

The US did not support Germany during WWII. Both the Soviets and the Germans attacked Poland in 1939. During the war the US supported both Britain and the Soviet Union through the Lend-Lease act. After the war the Soviets enforced their style of government in Poland, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and Soviet zones of occupation of Germany. They occupied Austria for a time but agreed to leave if Austria became neutral. They sent troops into Czechoslovakia and Hungary to crush anti communist revolts. They cut off all roads to West Berlin for a time hoping to take that part of Berlin, but relented after the Berlin Airlift proved to be a success.

When the U.S. supported Germany in the war? What war are you referring to?

Many Americans despise communism, and fascism, and the various other oppressive statist governmental systems that have been running wild in the Soviet Union for the past 80+ years.populac

Your central government is still too powerful to be a good government. As long as that is true, many Americans will despise it.

However, I don't hear a lot of hatred for the ordinary people of the former Soviet Union, in the United States.

Some people ask me, which was worse, Nazi Germany or the Communist USSR empire? No question about it: the USSR.

The USSR was like a perverted pedophile who outwardly tried to appear like a decent, upstanding person who wanted to help children. However, underneath that phony facade of helping youngsters, his real motive was getting sex with underage children. That is the analogy to the USSR. They talked in noble terms about creating a new, selfless man, when in fact Communism was just slavery for the masses, while the top Communist Party Bosses lived like kings. Once the Communists convinced a country to go Communist, it was like slamming a jail door shut: there was no going back. For good measure, they'd encircle the border with barbed wire and guard towers in case you thought of escaping the Communist nightmare.

At least with Germany, the situation was, "what you see is what you get".

How did the USSR help the Czech Republic to fight Germany? They were quickly overrun, and were not strong enough to resist during occupation. By the way, if you want to see the true, vile face of Communism, rent the movie "Dark Blue World". It recounts how brave WWII Czech pilots risked their lives by fleeing to England so they could fight the Germans. Then, what do the Communists do after the war to these brave pilots who valiantly fought the Nazis, the sworn enemy of Communism? They threw them in prison because they feared these pilots had picked up dangerous ideas about freedom while in England. That's why we hate the USSR. It was completely evil.

USSR in 1939 invaded Poland pursuant to an agreement with the NAZIs. The communists in the waterfront unions tried to stop exports and imports to help those opposed to the USSR, until the NAZIs invaded USSR.

We didn't hate the Soviet Union, it's just that the cold war was very profitable to us. Personally I don't care if you're communist, or whatever have fun with that. I didn't like the way the Bolsheviks handled things but that's just my opinion.

are you freaking kidding me?...
first of all the USSR doesn't exist anymore... and second of all... the USSR didn't really 'liberate' Poland and the Czech Republic but just replaced oppressive german forces with oppressive russian forces... ... so 'thanks for the liberation' and staying UNWELCOMED for 40 years...

man, you have to check the history books...and stop reading the 'communist edited version' of what happened during and after WW2'...

Because they are different. Man hates anything or anyone that is different. Look it up under humanity 101 OR read all about it in the Bible.
