It does not seem to matter how educated one is we tend to be insensitive when it comes to others dying or suffering... we have mechanisms to justify our crimes and demonising others as though they deserve their fate.

Have you ever considered why we are so partisan? Please share your insights.

I am asking this again... What would you do? Whom would you support? Imagine you had no means to leave these countries... your education was limited... You had no friends outside of these areas and you resembled the current stereotype of a terrorist?

No hate responses please... only serious ones...

Ehud Olmert has been recently been elected president. Ariel Sharon though rather evil and commited attrocities, has been good enough to withdraw relatively sizable Israeli presence from Gaza. That would have led the way to peace but the Israeli economy runs on war and the manufacture of war arsenals and supplies and it also provides jewish people with distraction, and as such this new devil of a president has started a war again and on greater proportions. I have read some of the asking and resolved question and what they hell are they talking about. They already killed 300 people in lebanon, and 80 in Palestine and they keep killing. If this is considered protecting themeselves, then Hitler was justified for beggining WW2 because the allies won WW1. This doesn't make any sense, you people are too stupid to realize that America and Israel want Syria and Iran to be drawn into the conflict because racist Bush wants Arab blood to cool and satisfy his dreams and finish his bloody crusade.

Since the U.S helped end World War II, can't we do the same to end this smaller war, by dropping another atomic bomb in the middle of these countries. This way, we show the Arabs and Israelis to start from scratch and learn to live together.

I am a naturalized US citizen who considered himself of average intelligence overseas. I always struggled in school and worked hard to get decent grades. Then I moved to America in the third grade and was astounded at the stupidity and ignorance of people. Here I was in this country I thought was supremely wealthy, exciting, cutting edge, among other things, and the people couldn't spell and wouldn't care about world issues. Talk about culture shock. To make things worse, they mark you as smart and write you off as an insignificant loser. I cannot imagine how people could be so anti-intellectual...there is no basic curiousity among people here.

The whole situation is depressing, honestly. Like pigs wallow in filth, Americans wallow in ignorance. Sad.

I think a two party system just creates division and limits people to certain points of views. If I said I am a democrat or I am a republican I'm limiting myself to the general consensus of that party, I mean no one will beat you if you don't follow the exact form but it gives that feeling. I think what we need is a stronger sense of unity and that having two distinct parties makes people feel like they're against each other when really we need to be one country even if we disagree on some issues, or a lot of issues. I'm surprised that anyone given the choice between two opposing groups and independent that anyone puts them on one side against their brothers. It's ignorant to assume that we'll be on top forever, Rome thought it was invincible too.

Saying you won't vote for an independant because he/she can't win IS the reason he/she CAN'T win!

It is time to vote for some good clear thinking people who will fight for the real America!
DO NOT VOTE AGAINST THE OTHER GUY (you don't like YOUR guy but you HATE their guy), vote FOR someone!

I'm against the dropping and i need to answer some questions that the opposite team is going to ask me (i need reasons to back up the answers):
1) The Jap. had a secret bomb project. is there any doubt they would have use it if they had succeeded?
2) Didn't the dropping save lives in the long run?
3) in war, the objective is to defeat the enemy and keep your own men alive. the point of war is to win , not to make friends. Why should we care about killing other people?
4) The bombings ended the war.
5) if we invaded the islands of japan, more japs. would have died and americans too.

*thanks to everyone who answered this. it might be a little hard but i apprieciate it.
