I see Mr fire firefighter totally ignored what I wrote here..
here is an email I tried to send to him but yahoo said it cant send it to him for some reason...
Dear Mr fire fighter... I use my own name.. .Barry... Did you even read my question? I was asking for your opinon on what he said... get it? For your information, I am a teacher in a school in China and have been here for a few years now and yes, I know what it's like to have racist remarks said about you... Have you ever been the only person of your race in a room with a thousand people? staring at you? pointing at you, bringing their kids over to look at you as you are a foreigner? probably not... but here in China it is perfectly acceptable to do so.. I am not racist, I don't care what colour a persons skin is... what I do find is a lot of black people do have a problem with it...as soon as a person asks a question a lot of black people play the race card...and shout RACIST! RACIST!... don't shout it at me

Difficult to to give a straightforward answer. There are no black and white answers a lot of grey areas exist. Most people tend to be biased in favour of their own racial group or political leaning. I know many people will argue about colonialism and say that Britain exploited the colonies, which of course it did. In 1943 there was a famine in the east Indian province of Bengal which killed almost 3 million people and dispalced maybe a million others. At the same time Britain was shipping grain and other food stuff to the USSR for its fight against Nazi Germany. These Indians were citizens of the British empire and were helping Britain fight the war and thousands of them layed down their lives for the cause. Very few people in the west know of this famine and its horrors, maybe because it took place during world war II.
I know of it because my wife's father and forefathers came from this region of India. So, it is very difficult to explain to people who were affected by this catastrophoe, they will hold the colonial masters culpable and say that they have every right to settle in Britain and enjoy its economic benefits.
At the same time every time a person of afro-carribean descent gets arrested for a crime in say London, he or she should not shout racism. He or she is being booked for a crime and not for his or her race. And the police should also not view every black or asian looking person as suspect. There should be no repeat of the Jean-Charles de Menezies incident.
Wether Enoch Powell was right or wrong will be very difficult to say. We humans are all racist by birth, some more some less, some humans achieve that enlightenment to see through this cloud of black, white, yellow, muslim, christian and jew. These humans are very few, because this enlightenment is gained through knowledge and wisdom. By opening onself to other cultures and lifestyles. But most of us want to be smug in our own societies and cultures knowing only our history, until that time when most humans gain that enlightenment we have to grapple with such problems. You might get some better answers than mine which satisfy you more, but this what I think. A relevant question no doubt. Thank you.

At risk of upsetting the thought police.
He was actualy at the time quite brave to put his head above the trench as it were knowing the thought police/ do gooders would be straight in for the attack.
It's a pity because over the years it's probably stopped a good few politicians from saying what their actual constituents thoughts were. If as he was quoted at the time he was only re-iterating what a constitunet had actually said.
To be honest given the riots that have taken place in the midlands and the voting in of BNP candidates, the actual lack of reporting in some major cities of incidents involving immigrants/ asylum seekers real or fake he could still be proved correct.
I think it's terrible the amount of people I know that have never been racist but over the issues of assylum have become racist over the last couple of years. I recently had a major arguement with someone who has been a close friend for many years who admitted recently he's a paid up member of the BNP. My arguement centred around tha fact he's a GP and has many to look after. He said that's one of the main points, the government just deposits 100's of asylum seekers onto his books meaning the local population he has to care for suffers.
It's policies like this that may cause what Enoch Powell said to actually come true.
In my city where I have many friends who are dirctly involved with the police, newspapers and the night club scene. They have been discretely told not to report the stabbings among immigrants/ assylum seekers, Police have been told not to stop cars being driven by those that look like immigrants (DON't WANT TO GET SUCKED INTO THAT ARGUEMENT, but can't think of a better way of putting it). It's amazing how someone who has destroyed/ lost/ left behind all his documentation still has a driving licence and I for one would love to know who's insuring them! (Quoted £1700 third party only for a son with a full clean driving licence).
To get back on track.
Wait and See. Although I along with the 20% of the guys I work with will be living in Spain by Christmas

there is a lot of anger among the white community regarding the behaviour of blacks and the fact when we complain we are branded racist. take the london cartoon demos as an example, i can get in serious trouble for making even a slight racist remark but they are allowed to make death threats and praise terrorism openly. I have spoken to several managerwho won't employ blacks for fear they'll play the race card.
when people claim they are not racist i ask them "would you be happy for your daughter to live alone in a black area?" to this date i have never met anyone who has answered yes.
there is double standards elsewhere too, black can't get a decent job he's being discriminated against. white guy isn't trying. people point to sub-standard housing and say its wrong blacks have to live in those conditons but turn a blind eye to the fact whites have to as well.
In areas of high unemployment we find factories who only seem to employ non-whites making them work in sub human conditions for a pittance then the government states that they do the work white people won't do.
all this creates a widening gap between communities, i think we're a long way off rivers of blood but sadly it will happen.

i quite do not imagine it replaced the game in any respect. How would it not? gamers would nevertheless have taken steroids had it no longer surpassed off. i imagine the game often is the very similar because it is ideal this second had the speech no longer been given. besides the undeniable fact that, it has likely inspired many human beings (to boot as ESPN.........there is more desirable than the East Coast in this usa) in and out of baseball that are coping with no longer in basic terms ALS, yet different ailments to boot. So i don't think of it replaced baseball in any respect. i imagine it replaced human beings.

I can see you r racist and anti emigration... you dont mind others doing your work but you would also fear them and not share your privileges with them.... you go colonize the world and then cringe back to your pure race bastion... World has no choice but to live with difference and become more understanding. At some point it will be white people who will need to migrate to other parts of the world... the way economy is going... then would you be fine with being marked?

enoch powell said that in twenty years (from 1968) 'the black man will have the whip hand over the white man' (in britain).
as far as i can remember in 1988 the queen was still white, so was the prime minister, and indeed almost every important ceo.
there is no need to worry about 'the blacks' taking over britain - they don't want to. the predominantly west-african and caribbean locals of brixton are as english as you are (and more english than i am).
in fact our brixton prime minister was himself white, and the son of a circus clown.

No HE wasn't right, his concerns were misguided. Todays concerns relate to fanatical distortions of faith in the guise of terrorism; not a racial problem as suggested by Powell.

he was probably wrong...seeing society as it was then, and seeing society as it is now, well now has suprised many, and then again, suprised few....but the man probably still was wrong...no matter if he could have seen at the technology of the future..i still think he would be wrong...and its hard to tell you why, except for He would be wrong because the hopes and dreams of so many have been wiped away..............................
