"Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country"

That was Herman Goering. At first I thought they'd caught Bush on an open mike again, but there's a certain eloquence to that quote which made the notion laughable.

Quote:
Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger.

Here's one for ya:

Who said THIS?

"The Israelis know that if the Iraqi or the Iranian army came across the Jordan River, I would personally grab a rifle, get in a ditch, and fight and die”

Hint: He's on the extreme left.

Give up... none other than der Schlickmeister himself, Bill Clinton

Think I could make something like that up?

Nice to know that Bill is at least willing to fight for some countries, even though he wasn't willing to fight for his own..

I can just see the Israeli's calling Bill now...

Bill : Uh oh, that call's from Israel, I'll let the machine get it.
