Their population is about 33 million, and the United States is about 303 million, so they would be about 10% of the United States. So should they have about 6 states, which would make them about 10% of the states? Has this been discussed?

Also, Australia has about 21 million people, so if they were to become part of the United States, should they have about 4 states, which would be proportional to their population?

And also, shouldn't there be a big tax on consumer electronics that should go towards health insurance for the poor?

Lets be honest here. The same people that claim they can't afford health insurance are the same ones that walk around with $200 iPods, have 50" Plasma HDTVs, Satelite, cell phones with expensive plans, etc, etc. A relatively high percentage of them smoke $50 worth of cigarettes a week, and drink at least $15 worth of Alcohol a week (that is assuming they are not alcoholics and are drinking at home).

You add all that up and we are talking maybe $400-600 in UNNECCESSARY goods and services a month.

Lets tax "DUMB SPENDING" to help pay for what it is they were supposed to be saving that money for in the first place.

tomorrow they passed a law saying it was illegal to eat strawberry jam on wheat bread. you could still eat strawberry jam, and you could still eat wheat bread, you just can't put the strawberry jam on the wheat bread without breaking the law. but you really, really love strawberry jam on wheat bread, and think this law is ridiculous. would you: a) continue eating your strawberry jam on wheat bread and just hope you never get caught, or b) give up eating strawberry jam on wheat bread because it's illegal and it's wrong to break the law?
basically, do you think it's wrong to break a law that shouldn't exist but does because of other people's ignorance?

Canadian dollar closed at 1.02 yesterday, they predict it will be 1.05 by Jan but those are the same people who predicted parity by Jan.

Cars, gas, electronics, etc are some things consumers buy from other countries, when will the prices rise to reflect the weak dollar?

This from the same man who calls suicide bombers, "Freedom Fighters"....

"There is a legal definition of genocide and Darfur does not meet that legal standard. The atrocities were horrible but I don't think it qualifies to be called genocide," he said. Washington is almost alone in branding the 4 1/2 years of violence in Darfur genocide. Khartoum rejects the term, European governments are reluctant to use it and a U.N.-appointed commission of inquiry found no genocide, but that some individuals may have acted with genocidal intent. Carter, whose charitable foundation, the Carter Center, worked to establish the International Criminal Court (ICC), said: "If you read the law textbooks ... you'll see very clearly that it's not genocide and to call it genocide falsely just to exaggerate a horrible situation I don't think it helps."

What other accessories would you reccommend?
A Flag Tie?
Matching mini flag cuff links?
Socks with red, white and blue lights on them?

Did I miss something on this lapel pin issue? So 'X' amount of years ago, a few politicians decided to make a fashion statement in testament to their patriotism. I get that. But, since when did the fashion accessories of a few become the status quo? I could care less how the politicians choose or choose not to accessorize!! For Christ's sake, its jewelry!
