Operation Northwoods was proof for me that they could carry out a terror attack on American soil against it's own people just to gain support go to war.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Northwoods

"Operation Northwoods, or Northwoods, was a 1962 plan by the US Department of Defense to cause acts of simulated or real terrorism and violence on US soil or against US interests, blamed on Cuba, in order to generate U.S. public support for military action against the Cuban government of Fidel Castro. As part of the U.S. government's Operation Mongoose anti-Castro initiative, the plan, which was not implemented, called for various false flag actions, including simulated or real state-sponsored acts of terrorism (such as hijacked planes) on U.S. and Cuban soil. The plan was proposed by senior U.S. Department of Defense leaders, including the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Lyman Louis Lemnitzer."

It seems to me that no matter what the U.S. does, it always produces a negative backlash even amongst out own allies at times.

If America has a specific foreign policy, it creates anti-Americansim, or if the U.S. goes to war for whatever reason, regardless of the situation or cirumstances, it creates anti-Americanism.

Can someone please explain?

Religious fundamentalists are united by fear. Whether they are Christian, Muslim, or Jew, fear is the common denominator. They fear change, modernization and loss of influence. They fear that the young will abandon the churches, mosques and synagogues for physical and material gratification. They fear the influence of mass media and its ability to subvert the young with song, dance, fashion, alcohol, drugs, sex and freedom. They especially fear education if it undermines the teachings of their religion. They fear a future they can’t control, or even comprehend.

Perhaps it’s not surprising to realize that it is fear that also connects the myriad of nationalist, separatist and independence movements who also engage in political violence. Although experts, academics and analysts hypothesize about a multitude of causal effects that lead to violence and terrorism, fear is the underlying.

Europeans are capable of handling this crisis. How will this pattern of almost "mandatory" U.S. involvement in Europe affect US budgetary restraints? Who pays the bill ?

I wish we could come to terms with this decision.

Should access to health care be a right, which society in general must supply to all?
Or should it be an option, to be paid for individually by those who choose to have it?

i read many q&a's about social programs that seem racially biased, without saying it. they seem to tapdance around mentioning color.

i read that when lbj enacted his social programs, there was a mass exodus of poor whites from the democratic party to the republican party. for the life of me, i cannot see anyone in the lower economic classes choosing the republicans as the more benevolent of the two.

i also feel that america is still quite racially biased. if michael vick was bret favre, would there have been such an uproar? if barry bonds was white, would there have been such a problem with the record being righteous. i wonder. and this jena 6 thing......

Would it mean that for every law that is proposed people would have to vote and if it gets 51% percent of the votes it's enacted? I kinda like the idea though. I think that would be a true democracy!

I think that humanity should begin to enforce common sense. The lack of common sense is extremely detrimental to our society. Here is my stance on several topics. What are your opinions? Do you think I would be able to find people who would support a party like this?

Sentencing - Fines must not be an option as punishment for crimes. Fines simply favor people who can afford them. The only real form of punishment must be uncompensated public service. This punishment will be given in varying degrees. Minor punishments will consist of cleaning roadways or other public locations. More serious punishments will be going to prison and working at public construction projects or other large projects. All these punishments should involve physical labor The reason for this is that when a crime is committed something is taken away from society. By having criminal be punished by unpaid public service they will be giving back to society.

President Bush? How would you rate him??? I've been learning a lot of interesting things about him in my US Gov class. Here are some things.

Is it truth that he has lied to us americans numerous times, streched executive powers to expand his presidency power, is he ordering that americans be spied on at will without a search warrent, used to work with president nixon with watergate, completly ignores things written out in the US consitution that says he can't do things, but does it anyway?

I heard the things he has done is enough to get him impeached? If this is all true, why hasn't it happened?
