Outstanding idea. However; the medical/pharmaceutical professions are big business and there is too much money at stake. It will never happen.............

Many effects, but probably the biggest effect will be in the field of contagious diseases. Right now the United States is extremely vulnerable to an outbreak of one of many contagious diseases that are being transported to America in very large numbers and without health care for everyone, the USA will at some point be heavily damaged by a major outbreaks of otherwise preventable diseases missed because so many poor people do not have regular doctors and health care. The possibility is often in the News!

YES. When people pay health insurance, they pay more than they would if they were just paying taxes, because the hospital needs to make a profit. Free healthcare should be a human right, and it's wrong that some people feel that they can't go to the docters because they can't afford it, or if they have to pay a lot of money because they get ill, which they can't help! **** the taxpayer- they'd benefit from this and taxes should be raised a LOT.

The government wants to drive (force) health care prices down, however, even health care is dictated by the forces of supply and demand. That means if doctors cant make a handsome profit then there is little reason to go though the pains of going though med school. - --- Result our health care system tanks like it has done in Europe.
That's the short an answer, try asking a doctor that question.

No, we will be waiting to die. It will probably take 4 months before you are seen by a Doctor meanwhile the cancer is eating you alive.
Maybe free health care for those that can't afford it but other than that no.
I don't know about you but my parents taught me that nothing is for free and it couldn't be more true.

In other countries that provide health care for the citizens of that country...the tax payers pick it up. But - for higher taxes and free health care for all...I think it would be nice to pick up the tax.

However...the US needs a PROGRESSIVE tax.

If you think that health care is expensive now, wait until it's free. The cost will be enormous.

No, free health care means unlimited demand consuming a limited supply.... e.g. long lines, delayed operations, lack of doctor incentives... Economics 101 - Crash and burn... How many canadians come to the USA to get timely health care they cannot get in canada.... ?

Can't afford it now unfortunately since Bush put the country in a big hole finacially.

I do believe it should have universal health care one day.
