I disagree. I support our troops and served for 9 years, what about you. However that does not excuse anyone for killing innocents. Someone shoots at you shoot back, however you do not kill non combatant. Collateral damage happens, but a soldier does all they can to alleviate the suffering of others, to not be the cause of it. There is no justification for murder, ever. Just the same as if you have an enemy captured you are responsible for their safety and well being. Torture is not a means of gaining information no matter how much I'd like to sanction that just can't.

In Haditha Killings, Details Came Slowly
Official Version Is at Odds With Evidence
By Thomas E. Ricks
Washington Post Staff Writer
Sunday, June 4, 2006; A01
At 5 p.m. Nov. 19, near the end of one of the most violent days the Marine Corps had experienced in the Upper Euphrates Valley, a call went out for trucks to collect the bodies of 24 Iraqi civilians.
The unit that arrived in the farming town of Haditha found babies, women and children shot in the head and chest. An old man in a wheelchair had been shot nine times. A group of girls, ages 1 to 14, lay dead. Everyone had been killed by gunfire, according to death certificates issued later.

(Lets see....got old man in wheelchair shot 9 times.
and woman and children shot in head and chest.)

Army Col. Gregory Watt was tapped to start an investigation and by March 9, he told Chiarelli that he had reached two conclusions, according to the Army officer.
One was that death certificates showed that the 24 Iraqis who died that day -- the 15 the Marines said had died in the bomb blast and others they said were insurgents -- had been killed by gunshot rather than a bomb, as the official statement had said. The other was that the Marine Corps had not investigated the deaths, as is the U.S. military's typical procedure in Iraq, particularly when so many civilians are involved. Individually, either finding would have been disturbing. Together, they were stunning.
(Killed by gunshot and not by the roadside bomb? The report was FALSIFIED?)
Why Haditha Matters
Enough details have emerged from survivors and military personnel to conclude that in the town of Haditha last November, members of the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment perpetrated a massacre. The killings may have been in retaliation for the death of a Marine lance corporal, but this was not the work of soldiers gone berserk. The targets (children from 3 to 14, an old man in a wheelchair, taxi passengers), the hours-long duration of killings, the number of Marines involved, the careful mop-up--all amount to willful, targeted brutality designed to send a message to Iraqis. As Representative John Murtha has pointed out, the patently false story floated afterward, blaming the killings on roadside bombs, and Marine payoffs to survivors imply a cover-up that may extend far up the chain of command.

So...the official reports claim the civilians were killed in bomb blast.
further investigation reveals civilians were shot.
Falsifying reports....interesting.
by the way, MAURICE....du jour means "of the day"....Haditha occured in NOV 2005. Nearly two years ago....you should be able to site a few hundred other LIBTARD claims of WAR CRIMES.
And the military has procedures for bringing criminals within the ranks to justice...

List of individuals executed by the United States military
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The military of the United States has executed 160 soldiers and other members of the armed forces between 1942 and 1961 (these figures do not include German prisoners of war, war criminals and saboteurs executed by military authorities between 1942 and 1951). Of these executions, 157 were carried out by the United States Army between 1942–1961. The United States Air Force conducted the three remaining executions, 1 in 1950 and 2 in 1954. It should also be noted that the United States Army had previously executed a total of 36 soldiers during the First World War, eleven of these executions taking place between 5 November 1917 and 20 June 1919 in France and 25 hangings being carried out in the continental United States over the same time period.
The Statistical Abstract of the United States: 2000 contains the following information relative to military executions.
[Excludes executions by military authorities. The Army (including the Air Force) carried out 160 (148 between 1942 and 1950; 3 each in 1954, 1955 and 1957; and 1 each in 1958, 1959 and 1961). Of the total, 106 were executed for murder (including 21 involving rape) 53 for rape and 1 for desertion. The Navy carried out no executions during the period]

These poor souls were killed by their own people. They kill each other at will and love every minute of the killing. Does anyone know what we are dealing with? This has been going on for centuries but unfortunately we are in the middle of it so we get blamed for their terrorism.
