In the US, My G.I. Bill paid for most of my college and I was able to get a decent mortgage under the Veterans' Administration. Also I have had great success getting plans and archival information on American naval vessels from the Natinoal Archives. I will always be grateful for these things.

Firstly, it gives you the freedom to criticise it publicly. It also gives you a reasonable standard of living and access to health care. The country must be in good condition, because I've never seen so many fancy cars and so much house-buying for years, and I'm in the North East. It's easy to whine and grumble, but y'know, Britain must be a good place because let's face it, many thousands of people want to live here.

I live in Canada and though I don't like to admit it and often gripe about it and say the opposite, my country has given me a good life. Good health plan, free education, plenty of work over the years, the opportunity to make a good wage for work done and a safe and peaceful life in general. Not many countries, in this world, give such gifts.

I live in the six counties of Ireland and this has taught me that some things are worth fighting for, and dying for, if need be. That your comrades, family, religious and political beliefs are worth far more than anything material, and to never, ever give up the battle for a united nation.

My country gives me the opportunity to take my education as far as I can. It also does not determine where I live or how I conduct myself. It helps the poor through food programs, provides housing for the poor and educational programs for them as well. Also the roads, infrastructure and buildings necessary to run the government. Is there corruption? Sure, there are always going to be people who will steal from their employer if they can get away with it and the government is no exception.

This country, with the great help of US, has kept it's people safe for over 50 years and then along came Tony Blair.
That man, together with US (ie Bush) made the world a more dangerous place and as a result that safe feeling is disappearing fast.
There are so many foreigners in this country as a result of Blair's policies, that we do not know who are friends and who are foes.
Why we allowed Muslims to come here in great numbers will never be known.
They have nothing in common with us. These people will cause problems in an empty house, pity they don't blow themselves up..
They are bombing the a*se out of the nation and still we allow them to come unabated.
The tail wagging the dog?, the inmates in charge of the asylum?, take your pick.

They give me job seekers allowance, they stopped me from dying from an asthma attack and of course gave me a free education, up until 18 at least.
So far in my life i have got a lot from my country and given nothing back, but i'm sure that will change soon
