we have the freedom of speech as long as it's politically correct and doesn't break the patriot act. oh, and in schools and businesses, we have almost none, so we have a little more freedom than most countries but not as much as the constitution says we have. i mean, we do have freedom of press and to picket and that stuff, but just speaking, well...

I assume you mean where as it gone to or why it as it been eroded? Personally, I think it never really existed and was just an illusion of the so called modern democratic state. Our speech has always been regulated in one way or another. The only difference now is that we over regulated by the political correct brigade where as before we may have been informed on those loyal to the King, Queen or the local squire.

A few years ago there was a case in Glasgow where an Asian shopkeeper had been assaulted and a man was arrested and sent for trial. The accused had been reprimanded by the Sheriff (judge) for repeatedly using the word 'P@ki'. Shortly after this, the shopkeeper came into the court to give his evidence and was asked to state his name and occupation. His reply to his occupation? I run a P@ki corner shop in .....! So Pakistanis DO occasionally use the phrase themselves!

Free speech? You mean like yelling, "Look out, he has a gun!" in an airport security line? That will get you arrested, and it ought to.

Freedom without responsibility and accountability is licentiousness.

The Democrats are all for it, as long as you accept their positions you can talk about them all you want. If not, you better shut up.

I was in a discussion about a topic with a Liberal, she brought it up. I was using logic and facts to counter her argument of emotions. She finally said, "I wish I could respect your opinion or your right to express it, but I don't." What ever happened to the concept of diversity that the Liberal have championed (and rightly so)? Diversity of opinions is part of diversity!
