i read many q&a's about social programs that seem racially biased, without saying it. they seem to tapdance around mentioning color.
i read that when lbj enacted his social programs, there was a mass exodus of poor whites from the democratic party to the republican party. for the life of me, i cannot see anyone in the lower economic classes choosing the republicans as the more benevolent of the two.
i also feel that america is still quite racially biased. if michael vick was bret favre, would there have been such an uproar? if barry bonds was white, would there have been such a problem with the record being righteous. i wonder. and this jena 6 thing......

Gee I am surprised at the answers I have already read.
I guess I would consider myself a Liberal because I don't feel that I should have to side 100% with either a Republican or Democratic Party.
I am White, Female, lower-middle class income, and I do lean more towards the Democratic side -- but not just because it is the Democratic side.
I try to be as non-biased as possible and remove the fact that a politician is a member of a specific party. I do not allow party affiliation to influence my decisions.
The toughest for me is when I really like 2 candidates and they are from "different sides".
I just don't understand why so many decisions in life, like the top two -- religion and politics -- have to be so darn black and white.
Life is full of many gray areas and I don't like the pressure to choose between black and white viewpoints.

Given that the republicans and democrats only pay lip service to the Constitution, a party that actually supports the Constitution is a good thing.

The Republican party seems to be shooting itself in the foot, not going to a Black sponsored debate, not participating in a Hispanic debate, heck, they won't even go on the View!
Are they writing off the minorities? If you cut out the women, African-American, Hispanic-Americans, you only have white men with guns. What a charming thought, now the actions of George Bush finally make sense.
In truth some Republicans are still fighting very old battles, the welfare situation was changed to workfare almost twelve years ago, yet they act like its still the old days. They are still angry at Hillary for her heath care study and they don't realize they were sold a bill of goods that made the insurance companies rich and happy at their expense, and its getting worse.
I don't know what they are thinking, but it better wake up or they will be out with the cat in the morning.
I think America is still racially biased, but its encouraging that we can say that Vicks is scum, and drug taking is not compatible with sports records, and the Jena 6 thing is more complex that it was first presented as, we might have to wait a while on that one. But then, I still remember Sharpton in the Tawana Brawley debacle.
Wrong is wrong, regardless of color. I don't know if I would have felt comfortable saying that in the fifties, but I know no one marched so that fifty years later drug taking and dog killing would be OK.

Many of us grew to be Republicans for the conservative point of view. Of course, that isn't necessarily the view many politicians now hold to. Traditionally, most of us believe in a strong military for many reasons. We also believe strongly in higher education, with assistance being something provided for all in need, but not as a handout but a handup. We believe strongly that all races are created equally in the eyes of God, none better than the other. We should all treat each other fairly, without prejudice-which includes no preferential treatment of others. We also believe in the ability of the American product, capitalism. This encourages growth for the individual and the country.

No, we see the democrats as the increase taxes to support more worthless social program party. If you are a slave that wants the government to take care everything and are willing to give up all your rights, then that is your problem. Just don't expect me to pay for it. I don't care what color you are.

Democrats are the party of the left wing liberal loonies. Most white people are intelligent and well-educated. They have no reason to join such a group.
There are black conservatives (Clarence Thomas and Alan Keyes) who are disrespected by blacks because they are not left wing liberal loonies. The Democrat party caters to the ignorant, regardless of race, religion, sexual persuasion.

That may be true of some but not this white cracker! I vote according to what the cadidate stands for and thier voting record. Period. I don't care what other "groups" support.
Check out Ron Paul for president if you want one that really things and follows the Constitution.

Boy the race card thing is getting pretty ridiculous. So we should consider someones race before charging them with a crime? Sounds racist to me.

It is deeper than that. We white Bush males choose the GOP because the dems are the party of women and minorities. We could never imagine a woman or a black male as President of the United States of America, but we believe our President Bush is a great president!

NO we see the Democrat Party as that of immorality, reasonless, fact less and useless.
Hate mongers ans liars
Race Card is only brought up by those that have no facts or reason behind their point of view, to divert attention away from their baseless views
